Touran's Diesel Particulate filter burns off best at recommended 2000-2500 rpm's, stick mine in 5th @ 70mph. Have to drive further as the car get's older, tends to be worse in summer.

That's exactly what I have to do with the 3008 every week. I place it into 5th at 70mph for a few minutes and then up into 6th. Once bit twice shy.

Diesel Particulate Filters and regeneration protocol. Have you been drinking Mr Frog : /

What's wrong with putting it in neutral and not moving and just thrashing the tits off it? Why do you need the ground to move under the wheels? ;)
You don't but half an hour revving the arse of the engine would piss off the neighbours

It's not about the speed or if the car is moving. It's all to do with get the DPF hottest the quickest.
That just happens to be higher revs, and under a load. So accelerating quickly and or maintaining high revs will do the job.
Speeding makes air resistance higher, so the engine has to work harder.
Modern diesels are so efficient, they struggle to reach the higher temperatures needed to clean the DPF. So other methods like injecting diesel directly into the DPF have to be used. Older systems inject a little diesel on the exhaust stroke etc (sounds like bad tappets).

When you have a regen in order to raise the temp to burn of the soot additional fuel is pumped into the barrels if you interrupt the regen the fuel seeps past the rings into the engine thinning the oil. Its not just Vauxhall most oil burners with a dpf fitted have the same issue
I only asked as I have the same problem with my Yaris. How would you know when the regen has completed?

What about the dpf cleaner you stick in your tank, the mrs tried that seemed to work for 2-3 weeks then the warning sign is on again,to be fair she was was warned after similar happened to her last diesel car an Audi A4,I leave her to her own devices over it all now ..

I can only speak for Vauxhall there the simple answer is you don't. Ecu will recommence regen when engine is restarted only indication with mine is in order to increase load on engine Ecu will turn on heated windows, mirrors etc to raise engine temp also whilst regen is in progress if you have an instant mpg display the mpg will be much lower than normal.

That’s the best way not to mollycoddle them or they become bone idle.
Mrsery couldn’t do a tap when we met, you want to see her now, she’s absolutely flying.
Little does she know, she’ll be on the roof later as that bleeding Ariel is playing up again!

Been using the missus's 60 plate clio as no DPF fitted but has anyone struggling with the dreaded DPF light with no way to drive far enough to regen?

This is the shit that blocks them - btw in this day and age when we are all mask aware if ever someone whould have some PPE at work.............
