Dreams That You're Glad To Wake Up From...

After the slaughtering of the bin dippers on Monday, I dreamt that I was watching City. It must have been at Maine Road - the surroundings were the same terraced streets, but nothing else matched. I'd run there on my own, down shortcuts and over railway lines. Can't remember anything about the game, but when the final whistle came, and we'd won, everyone was singing a new song - We're City, we're the best. I was actually trying to get the song into my head while I was dreaming.

The thing that spooked me was, when everyone left the stadium, it was as though the stadium itself disappeared. All that was left was earth banks, a few stray seats and a bit of litter. I hared off back the way I'd come, on a real high. The bridge over the railway line had partially collapsed, though, and was at an alarming angle. My 'high' nearly carried me over it, just as a train came screaming underneath. No idea if I ever got home. I suddenly realised that I was going in the wrong direction for where I was supposed to be being picked up, so forced myself awake. Am still trying to work out the song, and wondering if I'm going have this dream every time we play like we did on Monday!

I find I can rewind my dreams so I just change things if I don't like it. But years ago I was working away from home a lot and only getting 4 or 5 hours a night and several times I saw black shapes crawling along the skirting boards a bit like the black shapes in the Ghost movie. I checked it out and apparently it is a common dream caused by stress and sleep deprivation - scared the living sh*t out of me!!

suffered from that for a year about 2 years ago, although my diagnosis was different. i was also seeing figures/ giant insects/ spiders and hearing conversations

and i was awake the whole time - although my doc said i wasn't - there was not progression between sleeping and waking

sometimes i was at the other side of the room. so i must have been awake

i researched at the time, and got this: <a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia</a>

Forget dreams, I hate it when you are starting to fall asleep and then randomly feel like you are falling! :(
Naaah that's a mint feeling.

It's not the feeling that bothers me, it's the fact that it wakes you up after slowly drifting into a sleep. :P

The one where all your teeth are crumbling and you wake up and check to see they are still there.

Not had it for years now but it was a regular occurrence in my twenties.

Interesting article Aphex. I heard a hissing sound when I saw these shapes and didn't know where I was (I was actually in some travelodge or other). They stopped when I got more sleep and less stress
