Drugs

This is a lie. Nobody could nurse a heroin addiction for 5 years never mind 25 years!? Heroin is the one drug that if you abuse it over the space of a few years will inevitably kill you

Why would i 'lie' about this?
And going by your un-educated logic on this matter, all heroin addicts only last 5 years do they?

Ok then. Bad example. LSD

Actually no. How the hell do you raise kids with a heroin habit?

Being a heroin addict doesn't automatically mean that they will be in a doss house with a dirty needle in their arm all the time or tripping off their faces and falling into bogs and shit.

Because nobody has Alcohol/Cigarette related deaths do they?

And no newspaper ever lies....

Too many misconceptions regarding drug users due to pure media brainwashing.
Reality is a drug, the media are the dealers, you are an addict :D

it could be your brother, your mother, sister, auntie, uncle, neighbour, best friend.. hey, even your wife.
Every day people have addictions and you'll be surprised how intuitive addicts can be in hiding their addiction.

I don't like posting this but yea my own Brother was an Heroin addict for a few years, and no family knew about it.
I'd be about 14-15 so damn this is 15yrs ago now (time flies by) and I popped into his room and he was emptying a sports bag and out popped a needle.
I instantly saw this and was like - what's that?

He told me not to say anything but me being big mouth the next day I informed my mother and he was thrown into a private detox clinic and as they say: the rest is history....

He had and still has decent jobs, cars, looks healthy, eats healthy, just like most people... Never did any family suspect he was addicted.

One poster in here mentioned gambling as well.
This is legal here, and yet my bro. spent alot more money on a gambling addiction he had than on the heroin addiction.
Gambling really fucked him up, yet he was free to throw money on football betting.

Even in his own words he said he'd be better managing the heroin than the sports betting haha...

Transcript from an excerpt of Bill Hicks’ “Revelations”

You never see positive drug stories on the news, do you? Isn’t that weird, since most of the experiences I’ve had on drugs…were real fuckin’ positive. Who are these morons they’re finding, that’s what I wanna know.

Always that same LSD story, you’ve all seen it, “Young man on acid thought he could fly, jumped out of a building. What a tragedy.” What a dick! Fuck him, he’s an idiot. If he thought he could fly, why didn’t he take off on the ground first? Check it out. You don’t see ducks lined up to catch elevators to fly south – they fly from the ground, ya moron, quit ruining it for everybody. He’s a moron, he’s dead – good, we lost a moron, fuckin’ celebrate. Wow, I just felt the world get lighter. We lost a moron! I don’t mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious…but I am, so that’s the way it comes out. Professional help is being sought.

How about a positive LSD story, wouldn’t that be newsworthy, just once, to base your decision on information rather than scare tactics and superstitions, and lies…I think it would be newsworthy. “Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we’re the imagination of ourselves. Here’s Tom with the weather.”

You’ve been fantastic, and I hope you enjoyed it. There is a point…is there a point to all this? Let’s find a point. Is there a point to my act? I would say there is. I have to.

The world is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it’s real, because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round, it has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly colored and it’s very loud and it’s fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, “Hey – don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride.” And we…kill those people. “Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride! Shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry…look at my big bank account…and my family…this has to be real.” It’s just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok…

But it doesn’t matter because: it’s just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money; a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off; the eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here’s what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride – take all that money that we spend on weapons and defense each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

@Why Always Ste - I know people have cigarette and alcohol related deaths, I was just correcting your comment that sniffing nitrox oxide is extremely harmless. It isn't. If cigarettes were not invented and someone introduced them now they would be illegal. Shouldn't mean drugs should be legalised though. Glad your brother's okay. You did the right thing.

I never said nitrous oxide is extremely harmless, I've never done it or even researched it so I wouldn't know, my only knowledge of this drug is from Raheem Sterling doing it.

And on the comment of "if cigarettes came out today" they'd be banned immediately... This is total nonsense as the reason we act/think like we do today in 2015 is because of knowledge gained from previous years.
We have evolved to understand the dangers of cigarettes, yet for a period of human history cigarettes were advertised everywhere, actors payed to smoke in movies and so on (this may still go on) with product placement.

Never felt so fucking ill whilst smoking. I wouldn't smoke now if you payed me... This is due to education, yet if I hadn't of known any better and Ciggies came out tomorrow I may just smoke to try it.
Which goes back to my analogy before about Red Button/Blue Button... Most kids will play in the playground at school but a few do end up behind the bike shed trying out their parents cigarettes.

Same with illegal drugs. kids are aware of the drugs and naturally will be inquisitive. if we are more open about drugs, making them less of a "identity/way of life" type thing, and more of an health issue for me this will discourage kids from drugs/alcohol...

I remember the first time I got drunk... on a park aged around 12yrs old. Bottle of white lightning.
I felt so ill, throwing up everywhere.
This put me off excessive drinking and yes I have been drunk many times since as an adult but I'm more the wiser and rarely drink (just socially)

Imagine if that experience was street heroin though... I probably wouldn't be here right now.
So if this drug was legally prescribed, the street value would plummet and dealers wouldn't do what they do now - offer heroin out for free to get young, impressionable minds addicted.
Yes if someone wants something so badly they will find a way, but I'm saying if they do need this drug, they wouldn't have to resort to petty crime and would be seen by their GP, and would be registered and provided with adequate healthcare to get them clean (or if they don't come clean, at least they aren't out there robbing your car stereo)

Do some reading here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addictive_personality
As I've posted, the actual drug itself isn't the issue, it's an health issue for the individual who is taking the drug.
The person has more of a strogn tendency to addictions...
Many of the severe drug users I've known have been addicted to all kinds of things, many of these things are legal yet because of the way their brain works they are more prone to addiction.

Same with Alcohol, I can have a drink, then not drink for months, doesn't bother me. I can go out in a bar and just drink water.
Yet some people will go out every night drinking, drink wine everyday, lagers every night, just constant drinking.

Same with Food. Yes I could go to a KFC and eat some chicken, but other people will go every day and eat junk food, often resulting in obesity issues.

People should not be criminalised because of their addictions/poor choices like this.
Yes if their addiction is to constantly walk around killing people/fiddling with kids then yes yes yes - lock them up and throw away the key.

But for someone who knocked around with the wrong crowd as a kid, stumbled across drugs and after being offered it for free became severely addicted to crack, they shouldn't be thrown into strangeways after committing petty crime to fund their habits.

It's an Health issue. Not a Criminal issue.

oh and here is why the media are becoming more favourable with their coverage on drugs.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-33667676

Because more and more of our social establishment such as Politicians/Police Chiefs and so on are being caught with their pants down doing drugs.

The Govt. know they can make money off of it, tax Marijuana and also ignite other sectors such as tourism.

Cafe Culture is upon us and it won't be long until rather than groups of people are sat in closed houses smoking weed, they'll be sat outdoors on the main street skinning up.

I'm not celebrating this btw, rather informing.

I think the deaths from laughing gas are those that went overboard and did it so much it replaced the oxygen in their bodies with the gas which obviously would cause harm. I guess like any other drug you overindulge and you pay the price.
