Like Elton, but his attachment to crap that he thinks will keep him popular in the now is quite frankly unnecessary.
Of course it's reported as being benevolently supportive of new artists. We love a popular spin for opportunism.
He doesn't need to do it. Wish he wouldn't.
Bowie did a bit of it - but at least his charges had something.

I don't think it's plausible to suggest that he did this to support a new artist.

It was made during lockdown, I think, and Dua Lipa had had at least one no. 1 and several top 10 singles beforehand. Her first album is cited with well over 700k sales - she's not new.
