Dublin stabbings / violence

I‘ll wait and see if he responds.

There does seem to be a narrative that these things were always going to happen, rather than it being a totally disproportionate act carried out before actually finding out what had happened, alongside muddying the waters with defining the far right.

It’s probably more people susceptible to populist slogans. They probably don’t have a wing in politics, just want all immigration stopped, which is ludicrous.
Mines an educated guess after seeing his previous body of work over several threads over the last couple of years.

Hopefully the * who did this is locked up for life. I don’t condone random rioting, but you can understand anger at kids being attacked outside a school.

There seems to be a wider issue/ problem with immigration not just in Ireland but across Europe. Specifically to do with lack of housing and opportunity, which is resulting in both sides feeling like they aren’t being listened to.

I’m not sure on figures, but there does seem to be a large amount of predominantly young male asylum seekers coming into Ireland as well, (other posters on here have mentioned it to) which would always be hard to integrate in the short term.

Shit all round. Hope the victims come through it ok. Doubt they'd be appreciative of the events that followed. Doubt it was nothing but far-right folk involved, just the usual mob frenzy fuelled by piecemeal info on shit social media platforms. But kicking out the immigrants in Ireland has been a thing most have been waiting to happen since the 12th Century.

Strange statement?

Was BLM far right when they rioted?
Politicising bad behaviour is not right. Too many judges of what's "justified" versus not justified on here. BLM burning American cities to the ground was bad and counterproductive, the same way burning Dublin down is bad and counterproductive. I am firmly a centrist politically, and both far-left and the far-right are guilty of some horrible acts and even fatalities over the years. Both must do better.

Well said.

My first thoughts. Easy to start brandishing such comments about like “far right”.

What if people are just pissed off that someone who the country gave safe haven to (though i thought algeria was a safe haven) stabs people outside schools.

Trouble is, the minute anyone asks a question about immigration and its affects on local populace , they are immediately branded a racist. Loads do it in here.
Its really not helpful and we should be allowed to discuss it without silly accusations being banded about
Yep, the two loudest mouths on this thread are the quickest to mention far right.

At this point, nobody really knows this attackers background, apart from twitter experts of course. I’d take a guess Twitter was the ignition for protestors to kick off last night. Even though I spend a lot of time on it, it certainly makes the world a worst place.

The thing that puzzles me is that all the information says just that he was a “naturalised citizen” who had lived in Ireland for over 20 years, the rioting/unrest didn’t start until 2 hours later and the person who stopped the alleged attacker was also an immigrant. So why did the rioting/unrest start?

Was it because of rumours and misinformation on the internet? Was it because of unrest already being felt in Dublin? What exactly started it?

Social media spreading information/disinformation, these flash riots seem to happen a lot now.
