Dublin stabbings / violence

It was started by far right. There was post on social media to gather at the Dail. There are videos of them all chanting 'get them out'. And urging people to attack the Gardai. It's just a shame they dont March like that in opposition to the scummy drug dealers selling heroine to their kids for the last 3 decades.

There is a housing issue here amongst other things, and as I said before there needs serious discussion on immigration, the vetting of them and were they are being housed when accepted here. For example they have then crammed into a warehouse/old office building nearby here. It's not fair on them either. I'm sure that's not what they were promised. And they are not mostly Ukrainian Woman and Children as it was claimed they would be. There are some shanty like towns popping up in inner city working class areas last few years also. Nothing seems to affect the more affulent areas.

There has always been a racist undercurrent here. Like anywhere I suppose. It's not like it never existed. The rise of far seems to have really took off during Covid. Social media awash with conspiracy theories. They seem to belive everything they hear unless it doesn't align to what they belive. They are a strange breed.

The burning down of the hotel was the end of a siege that that lasted all day, by the Far right not disenfranchised youth.

There may have been genuine protestors mixed in but once it kicked off, from what I witnessed, it got over taken by mostly kids and local scumbags (scallys in Manchester) just out to cause trouble and commit crimes, nothing politically motivated to it IMO.

Let's see if they get so passionate during the next housing or cost of living demonstration. They won't.

Yes. Go look in the press.

They also cynically use tragic events for their own ends and exploit angry people who are vulnerable to their poison.
I have to agree with DB2 here.
I have met with a few of those that were very active in the Jobstown Not Guilty campaign, and still get updates from them on social media etc, and during lockdown, the far right were instigating protests against "restrictions of freedoms" and since, have been holding protests against migration, small in scale usually, but increasing in size across the Republic.

The economy in the South has boomed in the last 25 - 30 years, but while those at the top have been creaming off the proceeds, for many, the increasing costs have been at greater cost to them, as wages have stagnated to a degree.
There are also areas, particularly in North Dublin where gang violence is fairly frequent, often related to drug debts and or turf war's with gangs being involved in murders as far as Belfast and County Down.

Did we ever get told the identity of the attacker?

Seems rather strange having such a media blackout over an identity like this?

He’s not been arrested or charged yet because he’s circling the drain in hospital.

You can’t arrest someone in a coma.

Still?

This article suggests he has been out of ICU since the 5th?

You don’t have to be in ICU to be in a coma, but all the reasons not to arrest him in a coma all apply until he’s fit enough to be interviewed so maybe he’s woken up in the last 2 weeks but is still too fucked to talk to.

He’s not going anywhere I wouldn’t be too worried…

It's not strange at all though is it. He remains uncharged and revealing his identity now only means protecting him from reprisals would require enhanced security.
