Im going to Dublin in March for the girlfriends birthday.
Can anyone recommend anywhere decent to stay? And cheap-ish?? :D

Never been before, is it best to stay in the city centre?
Any tips on what to do/where to go?

Cheers

How can that be when it's free?

I stayed just down the road from Temple Bar nearer Hard Rock Cafe. Stayed in digs that had a 'club' called Copper Face Jacks underneath - go anywhere except there.

I heard that. Someone told me it's because they don't sell massive quantities at the brewery (believe it or not) and it doesn't sit well in the pipes. The Guiness elsewhere in Dublin is absolutely brilliant though.

I recommend staying in a place called Dun Laoghrie (pronounced dunlearry, excuse the spelling). It is about 10 minutes on the DART into the centre and is a good place if you fancy somewhere a bit quieter but within easy reach of Dublin Propper.

Kinkyafro what date in March are you due to come over. If it is around Paddys Day 17th then whatever hotel you go with will charge you way over the odds. As for hotels if you want to be around town have a look at hotels in the Smithfield area not too far from town on the Luas line the Maldron Hotel is nice we had a job do in there a while back its nice and not too pricey.

Trinity capital hotel (Close to the college) is good. Apx £100 per night. not many cheap places to stay in Dublin. Great city but soooo expensive.

lots of cheapish band b's in gardeneir street or drumcondra, best book early though mate, march is busy with yanks over for paddy's day, temple bar will be fucking stuffed any night your in it,for a good trad session try olivar john gogartys, big white building in middle of temple bar, dublin can be kinda hairy late at night, and it's a nightmare to get taxi's,one final word of warning, never buy charlie on the street, cause its not

4 of us went for my mates birthday and we had an awsome time!
agree with what people are saying about taking lots of money, tis expensive over there...
5 euro a pint wherever you go and food is generally quite expensive too.
