Dzeko > Carroll

Stupid buy Carroll.

Newcastle saw Liverpool coming with £50M burning a whole in their shell suits.

Ridiculous fee! Andy who?

TO be fair to the pundits Dzeko was very average last season and thats being kind.

He has been much better this season and most commentators are recognising that!

Its funny really, because Wolfsburg were asking for around 35m to 40m if my memory serves me correct & yet we managed to sign him for around 27m.

Contrary to what reporters are saying about how he's so expensive & overrated because of price...i think he could almost be a bargain. (& i know that's reaching for the stars a bit)

Kind of like Silva signing for 24m when valencia were asking for 135m which included villa.

It's the we hate Andy Carroll thread! I think he's a brilliant striker with the world at his feet. He can win balls in the air, is quick, powerful, has a great shot on him and also brings others in to play. He could be as good as Drogba in his prime and will be an important figure for the England Team for the next 4 tournaments.

Carroll is a decent striker, big, strong, holds it up well and is a handful for defenders. He will never, however, be anywhere as good as Drogba when he was in his prime.

He's progressed at a frightening rate and now has some excellent players around him. Kenny Dalglish blatantly knows a player and made a huge statement of intent to bring him in. If Carroll lacked ambition then he'd never have signed for Liverpool. I genuinely think Carroll will be as good as he wants to be.

I think some of the vilification against Carroll is misguided. Sometimes, in the air, I am quite shocked at his heading ability. He can get such power and direction in the sometimes.....
He's certainly not better than Edin Dzeko, though. Dzeko is a world class striker.

Despite this, I think Carroll should flourish under Dalglish's system. The propensity for direct play really does suit Carroll. He won't be a terrible buy. However, at £35mill, he's grossly overpriced. I still think he'll be an asset for liverpool, though.
