Dzeko or Torres?

Dzeko.

I'd rather gamble on someone who has not played in the Premier League than someone who is injury prone. And besides, Dzeko looks big and strong enough to cope with this league so the likely outcome is that he'd do well here.

Is big Phil not big and strong?

Yes he is, but what exactly has that got to do with anything?

Why didn't he deserve it?

Based on that argument, why didnt Darius Vassel get ballon d'or 2009 ? See what i did there.

Yeah I do see what you did...you avoided the question. It seems to me that since he actually did receive the award (voted on by a number of folks who know what they are talking about) the burden is on you to explain why those folks were wrong.

Dzeko for me though would take Torres any day of the week.

1st choice Dzeko as he is fit and has the physical presence and goal scoring record to make a significant impact for City.

Torres is 2nd choice due to his injury record.

Would also love to see us sign Hulk from Porto, looks like he would be fantastic for us.

Nah! He has that Tevez selfishness in his game. Which is great when you are one of the only good players on the squad. But detrimental when other good players are around. I have seen Tevez hold on to the ball and attempt scoring by himself too many times this season with other players wide open and in better positions, and only needing a simple pass.

We have to get away from that selfishness styled gladiator if we want the absolute top. Unless of course the selfish guy in question is Messi, then scratch my whole argument and just give him the damned ball.

Why anybody would want Torres is beyond me. Yes ok money doesn't matter but giving £30-£50m to Liverpool does, they may not be in direct competition with us now but given a bit of extra cash they could be.

Torres is injury prone, the last thing we need is another player that gets niggley injuries that hamper him all the time. He cost too much for what he is.

Dzeko - I'm not sure i want him nor am i sure we should pay £30m for him, ok again the money matters not to us but to put that psychological weight on a player of how much we paid and the expectation matters, young and moving to a new country ain't easy.
As for his ability i have absolutely no idea, i know he's good of Football Manager lol that's about it, i've not to my knowledge watched him play so from my view point no. But he is clearly highly rated.

dzeko all day long. torres is burnt out, dzeko and tevez will compliment each other really well. tevez will get more space and silva/johnson etc.. have a target man in the box, we dont get enough bodies in the box with our current style. mancini knows what hes doing, a lot of hughes' mistakes are being corrected

I find it hard to know if he would be a hit in the Premiership or not, he is tall, powerful and strong as you say.

But like it or not he has not got experience in the premiership, personally I think he would be able to adjust to the style of play but Torres is proven as a wordclass striker but is injury prone!

Dzeko is younger and stronger and brings height (6 ft 3 1⁄2 in) and is very powerful in the air!

Torres is quicker, a more clinical finisher and has better workrate!

So lets look at the stats bearing in mind the issues Dzeko had with war and late development.

Same goals per game ratio!

Do we have to choose one?

Can we not have both?

How does our previous manager have any bearing on whether we buy Dzeko or Torres?

Torres, if we can get him. Not that I wouldn't be happy with Dzeko.

Meant to post this in here but posted it in the Dzeko thread by accident.

Got a little something for the Dzeko doubters. I know it's only a youtube clip but its a great counter attack during Wolfsburgs 5-1 demolishing of Bayern Munich and shows he has great technical ability and finishing and not just only strength and arial presence.

4:13 into this video (And look at the great touch at 5:07 in slow mo!)

Lucio and Lahm must of been shaking with fear. Poor lads.

How about one now and one in the summer when Carlos leaves? There's two top quality forwards with Balo as backup. Then we could get rid of RSC, Ade, Jo and possibly bring up a youngster or two if needed.

Balo will end up better than both.
