He must be off. He's the only one not wearing MCFC gear.

Might be the lighter blue version of that (notice the label at the bottom)

He's got City shorts on anyway

Wenger told to forget City striker Dzeko in further transfer blow for Arsenal

In July, in response to Manuel Pellegrini's statement that Edin Dzeko will be an important player for us, I wrote:

Excellent news from Manuel Pellegrini. Consider the following CAREER statistics for selected strikers based on performances in the major European leagues (Bundesliga, La Liga, Eredivisie). The MINUTES PER GOAL since their senior debuts are:

Dzeko (2007) 96 goals @ 136 mpg
van Persie ( 2001) 136 goals @ 148 mpg
Aguero (2006) 109 goals @ 162 mpg
Tevez (2006) 84 goals @ 174 mpg
Rooney (2002) 156 goals @ 176 mpg
Torres (2001) 135 goals @ 178 mpg

The MINUTES PER ASSIST record for those same league games:

van Persie 290 mpa
Dzeko 321 mpa
Rooney 335 mpa
Tevez 340 mpa
Aguero 422 mpa
Torres 708 mpa

Dzeko also has the best goal-scoring rate in international matches. According to Wiki:

Dzeko: 29 goals in 54 appearances
Aguero: 20 goals in 50 appearances
Tevez: 13 goals in 62 appearances
Torres: 36 goals in 106 appearances
Rooney: 36 goals in 83 appearances
Van Persie: 35 goals in 76 appearances

With Pellegrini's more rapid attacking style and, in particular, with the service from Jesus Navas, Dzeko will thrive this season. I have always believed that - with the right manager - Kun Aguero + Edin Dzeko could be the most formidable strike partnership the premier league has ever seen.

Jumanji responded:

Sbm, Pellegrini doesn't play fast football, it's methodical and possession based — very similar to what we're used to.

No surprise as we play a continental style of football.

It will be interesting to see how he tackles the Dzeko conundrum, but I'm not expecting a revelation to be honest.

Pellegrini and the team provided my response by their fast, possession-based demolition of Newcastle!

Zaba has put it into words:
"The performance was fantastic, the team spirit was great and this is the way we want to play. If you saw Pellegrini's teams before he came to City, they always played this way. They were very aggressive, always trying to kill the ball, get into spaces and, above all, playing to win. He produces aggressive, attacking teams who play with a good tempo and a high intensity. We did that."

On something particularly close to my heart, Zaba also noted:
" Agüero and Dzeko did well together and they will add a lot of goals."

That was quite a long winded 'I told you so'

Given this is the transfer forum, then a more pertinent issue to discuss is if he is part of MPs plans, will he be offered a contract extension. He has two years left IIRC

Still needs to improve his finishing.......

Krul had one world class save against him from the header and another good save in the second half from a long distnace shot from dzeko....however a couple of times dzeko scuffed his shots (2 in the first half)....the commentators said the first one was a good save by krul but if edin had connected properly with it the keeper wouldnt have stood a chance......

He needs to be more clinical.........

However on a positive note his first touch, hold up play/link play was back to his best vs Newcastle so hopefully we will see more but I can see a battle between him and negrado for the second striker spot

I think that any player that has 8 shots on goal is doing more than enough to warrant a starting spot. The headache of having to mark such a player must be terrible.
