Dzeko's right knee

Edin Dzeko could face the wrath of Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini after he played for Bosnia against Wales with a knee injury.

The 26-year-old forward ultimately played the full 90 minutes at Parc-y-Scarlets, and was a star performer in Bosnia's comfortable win.

But Mancini is unlikely to have been impressed by his decision to risk his fitness so close to the start of a Premier League title defence and the end of the transfer window.

But the chances of any potential exit being completed could be in jeopardy after Bosnia coach Safet Susic revealed the striker had made the decision the feature in the midweek international despite his knee problem.

He said: "There was a question about him starting because he has a problem with his knee and maybe he should not have played. But I left it for him to decide whether he wanted to.

"There was a problem with his knee. We spoke and I said it was up to him. Dzeko is the top player in our team. And he can play in our team as long as he wants unless he asks to be substituted."

Punishing Dzeko for playing would be stupid IMO.

He is not a child. He HAD an option - and by choosing to play the injury obviously wasnt SO BAD.
Noone in their right mind would WANT to risk getting seriously injured, so...
Plus he needs some game time after a long break - if nothing else his appearance will reflect on his form at City in a positive manner.

He played very well in this match and should boost his confidence. He caused all kinds of problems for the defense and should have scored if it wasn't for some really good goalkeeping and bad luck.

He is a pro and the injury didn't bother him much based on his performance and the fact he played 90 minutes. I think it's a good thing to stay fit so that he can perform when he's called upon.

Both the match report and the summary of Dzeko's attitude had a negative slant on Sky Sports Text. The report even described two embarassing misses yet one was a good save and the other was a set piece bullet header that hit the bar.

Hmmm
