I used to loathe Holmes - totally. Couldn't stand the bloke.
Then I met him. At an awards ceremony in Birmingham where he was the MC.
Couldn't have met a nicer guy. Nothing was to much trouble for him. Constantly
pestered for selfies and photo's - not a problem. All night long. He mingled with
the guests, chatted to anyone and everyone who wanted to meet him. He was
polite, funny and just came across as a very decent guy.
He hung around with the guests until after midnight, and he was live on TV
the next morning at 6.00 am and he was travelling from Birmingham. He's
either the consummate con man, who kept up an act absolutely perfectly
for over 5 hours, without missing a beat. Or he's actually and OK bloke.
The lesson I learnt that night: Treat people as you find them. Not as you
see them, or hear about them.
