Looking for somewhere with lots of good architecture, bars and restaurants but without spending a fortune like Dublin or Paris.

Any ideas for a 3 day break beginning of October?

Might be a bit chilly in October but went to Riga in the summer, ticks all your boxes.

Vilnius is another good option. Some beautiful architecture and places to see with a good mix of bars and restaurants. It was pretty cheap as well when I was there.

Ljubljana and Zagreb are lovely. Prague, of course.
Although not really classed as East anymore, Dresden‘s Altstadt is worth visiting.

Budapest is a fantastic place to visit.

Eldest daughter is on a 4 week European interrail jaunt and has just spent a few days in Budapest. She said it was fabulous

Agree with Budapest, krakow [sp] is good, if not Eastern Europe, Nimes and Carrcossone are a good shout.

Belgrade, Serbia and Tbilisi, Georgia both great visits. Serbia more party.

Bucharest and Sofia are probably my favourite major cities in Eastern Europe.

Neither is krakow but I figured he meant nice places to visit and wasn’t too concerned about how far east of Warsaw the place was

Budapest is effectively a Western European city situated in Eastern Europe in my opinion. Loads to do and see and doesn't cost the earth to do so.
