What in the world is so wrong with a person being annoyed, frustrated or outraged at the wanton destruction of a cultural artefact ?You seem outraged?
It was already partially damaged as you can see in the photo from a story last year.
It was also originally a gravestone to a real person but the inscription is weathered and lost to time.
Isn't that a bit disrespectful, sticking a fake name on a real grave?

It likely doesn't belong to anyone.
Saying something isn't worth outrage isn't the same as saying it's okay.
It's not someone smashing up a grave and the ornaments in the kiddie cemetery or defacing war graves or the grave of a real person.
Although it was originally a grave of a real person, it ceased to be that when they wrote Ebenezer Scrooge on it 40 years ago.

It means absolutely nothing to me but it does to some, and it's deliberate destruction seems nasty and inconsiderate, done for no apparent gain except to presumably upset some people.
It is the selfish vandalism that outrages people which I thoroughly agree with.
If only we could adopt the Japanese philosophy of not wanting to inconvenience, upset or annoy fellow citizens, but instead be kind and helpful....and considerate.
