I’ve been typing on this forum too much so I’m kinda lazy, I’ll write a bit.Can you state his qualities then?
He is closest in similarity to Bernardo Silva.
A maestro with the ball, doesn’t lose it, but can also glide past players pretty easily. Yet has an engine to run for days and help the defence.
He links the attack from the defence, so while he doesn’t huge goals and assists, he still gets quite a bit for what his role requires.
Barella just in serie had 12, then year before 14 goal contributions in the league alone.
These are such rare qualities in football, the complete midfielder who controls the ball well, dribbles well, defends and runs a lot, and chips in with goals and assists to boot.
He is everything on why I rate Bernardo Silva so highly.
You can look at his fbref stats (I’m too lazy) to see how complete he is.

I'm not convinced that City would value the player that highly, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Palace asked for given his importance to them, how late in the window the bid is, and the fact that we were seemingly willing to spend a similar amount on Paqueta.I admit I haven't read every page, but where is confirmation that we are willing to pay £90m for him.

You've listed 1 possible mistake out of how many transfers over the last 7 years, probably about 50, so the chances are they won't make a mistake this time because it's quite unusual. So what was the point you were trying to make ?What it doesn't prove is that I was wrong in saying the club has made huge mistakes in the market before.
We can definitely find common ground on Wirtz. Recently turned 20, but as you said, special. For me, the closest out there to KDB. The perfect successor, long-term.I've watched Barella enough times. I don't see a World beater. I see a good midfielder. I'm not shitting on Barrela here. I feel the same way about Kovacic. And I love Kova here.
I'm sure Barela would do well here too. I'd just rather have Wirtz. Who has a better offensive game and processes information quicker. Close to Kevin level processing.
Barrela is not that. He tackles a bit, defends a bit, has a decent pass on him, very combative, can work out of tight spaces when he needs to and scores amazing goals every now and then.
Nothing special for me. Good player though.
