Calling someone in the UK a commie is a source of amusement, and not taken at all seriously.
The tories are not the traditional right of centre party they used to be. They have been hijacked by far right extremists that were members of UKIP and the BNP, but because they realised their political ambitions would continually be thwarted by being members of those organisations that had little appeal to the majority of the UK public, they tagged on to the shirt tails of a mainstream party and enlisted in their thousands.
Large numbers of conservative members cancelled their subscriptions to the party because they felt they no longer represented the values they held dear, and their memberships have been replaced by those with far more extreme right wing opinions than has traditionally been the case.
They are borderline facists.
