We’ve always had a tradition of iconic keepers at City, from Swift and Trautmann days, through Big Joe, Big Alex the trailblazer for black keepers in this country, Coton, Hart etc
And our youth teams/academy have always produced plenty for other clubs as well
Eddie is right up there with the greats, the (fully earned) medals can’t lie
Such a proud history makes those weird interludes of Immel, Tracey, Siddall etc even more depressing

Hope you’re boy had a good day mate and enjoyed his birthday, I think you and I was on the same train out from Manchester that got delayed, we got on at Wilmslow and was in the same carriage without aircon! My lad and his mates were sat chatting with you and your lad, I fucked off in to 1st class to cool down.

first match 89 2nd division and best pure goalkeeper in that time has been Tony Coton in terms of the bread and butter of keeping goal, and that’s not easy for me to say as he’s persona non grata to me since he left to go to the enemy and there fans were singing englands no 1 to him as he sat on there bench the game giggs scored winner as curle pointed towards goal saying ave a go, but that being said Eddies been excellent for his unique skillset that’s been integral to our style and success but i’d want Donnarumma immediately he’s excellent absolutely top class, one last thing to all the “experts” saying he’s not a Pep Goalie i’ve recently been reading the latest Pep authorised biography of his whole time with us & Pep was considering Donnarumma in 2017 the only reason we didn’t go for it was he didn’t want the long protracted saga of trying to get him away from AC Milan so then turned to Eddie at benfica, Eddie was 2nd choice so Pep has “Always” rated him and i see this as Pep returning for his original choice with plenty more seasoning, and believe me his distribution has improved massively since then.

I remember watching England U21s just to see how Weaver got on.

Won us the game in '99 (I know Dickov always gets the plaudits but it was Weaver that won it for us).

Had a few nasty injuries and loved a drink - if not for that I think he'd have been class

Agreed -apart from one Gaff A at Fulham I think Jamo was superb for us -apart from when he clattered a Boro player and cocked up a promising attack when playing Up Front in the infamous Robbie Fowler missed Penalty game

That carriage was brutal, wondered where you went but your lad and his mates were great company.

Mpenza didn’t score many but when he did, they were usually what Mancini and Platt later referred to as ‘heavy goals’ when talking about Edin - equalisers and winners

Anyway, back to the thread. Think this will get done by the end of the week
