Big sum for a young goalkeeper. Hopefully he justifies the fee. Haven't watched him before but if he doesn't reach DDG/courtois/lloris level in the PL, our scouting department needs a kick in the arse.

People keep saying this but it is not true Buffon cost €53m Ederson is costing €40m its not even close
In 2001 one Euro was worth £0.64 which would value €53m as £34m. €40m is currently worth £35m. So if City wanted to buy Ederson now it would cost us more now in Sterling terms, but of course if you allow for inflation in football terms over 16 years it's a bargain!

So the schedule is he gets announced tomorrow and @Bill tells us all how shit he is on Thursday (and Friday, Saturday, Sunday etc etc)?

Yeah but rather than focus on the entirely negative let's just hope the kid, if he signs, settles quickly and does really well for us

He is young and needs some time to settle in and reach his potential

Buffon was an absolute bargain as well :)

Yes but if we want to talk about world records then we have to use the same currency and as most deals are done in euros then thats what we should compare otherwise the records would keep changing all the time as currency fluctuates. If the record is € 53 mill and we are paying €38 mill its not a world record to the rest of europe so it isnt here either.
