Sport Lisboa e Benfica - Futebol, SAD hereby announces, in accordance with the terms and for the purpose of article 248 of the Securities Code, that it has reached an agreement with Manchester City Football Club Limited for the definitive transfer of the rights of the athlete Ederson Santana de Moraes for the amount of € 40,000,000 (forty million euros), with a commitment to deliver 50% of the added value obtained in this transfer to third parties.

In before the entire English media makes a huge fuss over "the most expensive GK signing ever" & scrutinizes each little thing he does wrong. Even though he isn't the most expensive GK, as both the Ederson & Buffon signings were dealt in euros, not in pounds. Buffon going for €53m & Ederson for €40m.

You weren't wrong mate, it was always done and dusted, just never "official" until announced to the stock market.

Personally couldn't care less what the media think. It wasn't long ago sky mentioned we bought Sagna for 8 mil...sums them up
 
Who's going to be the first dipshit journo/arsenal blogger to look at the statement to the stock market and try to say he cost €80m I wonder?

"Eh.... if Benfica is gettin €40m.... an 50% is going to 3rd parties...*counts on fingers*"
 
Don't know if this has been suggested before. But once this transfer is complete, can you see us signing Semado on a vastly inflated fee, thus giving Benfica extra funds, and keeping it out of third party owners pockets?
