Agreed. We can dominate a game but just can't defend the transitions. The way we play in attack seems reliant on a moment of brilliance from one of the wide players who then look for a ball across/back or a shot. We often lose the ball and leave ourselves short as a result.

We've definitely got some talent, but middle of the park doesn't seem quite right in terms of the control and skill to break teams down. Not sure if we tend to put out younger teams than the opposition though. There are a fair few 16 year olds in today's squad and Mfuni is 17 so a good couple of years younger than those he's up against. Mad to think Dowman at Arsenal is still only 15 and playing in the CL proper!

It’s a bit like watching the first team last season. The balance isn’t right and we’re far too susceptible to the counter attack and our wingers are putting up similar numbers.

It is a really young side though, so it’s hard to be too critical, but the balance could be addressed, surely?

The World Cup has made us even more depleted, but not sure if Dortmund have players there too.

What did Wilkinson say before the match? Something about taking our chances, learning from the last match, etc etc. Shite performance, no decent attempt on goal. Both Sambas, Mfuni and Dunbar-McDonald exempt. The rest need a kick up the arse .
