I think there was more than one or two missing than SP and Wright. We tend to prioritise experience and learning over winning at this level.

That sounds far too logical. Isn't it better to simply play it off the legs of the defender so we win a corner? Or to pass it backwards then go to the other side of the pitch and do it there instead?

Very Portuguese and very good, it will be interesting to see if Vianna brings some changes to our recruitment profile. Whilst the full backs were excellent, 7,9, & 10 all brilliant, very intelligent, technical players who would possibly fall into the too small category when you look at the favoured profile in the English game. British mentality of physicality and runners has its place but it’s a bit blinkered as the Spanish etc have been showing us for many years.

Have to hand it to the opposition on this occasion and move on. Big step up and lots of learning for players and coaches
