EDS Vs Chelsea 18th August 7pm

Yes no Charlie Gray or Dada Mascal last night .3 key things last year were good CB pairing, good striker who could finish and good CM pairing, Gray and J Heskey. We can get last one back and hopefully rest grow into it.

I wonder what happened to Dada-Mascoll considering he was pictured in training over the weekend. I also suspect we’ll see Warhurst back in the squad on Friday against West Ham.

I’m pretty sure Dado Mascoll fit still maybe just building up to match sharpness slowly. Not sure on Gray but early in the window press mentioned Sunderland plus championship clubs were in for him and his contract only had 12 months remaining. I think the Heskey and Gray partnership was one factor in last seasons success and whilst not always appreciated outside the club, Heskey captaincy and Gray individual award and external interest shows it was noted in football circles.

Be interesting what happens going forward for the rest of the season but suspect Heskey at 6 just the lad doing what he always does in rolling his sleeves up and doing what’s best for the team

Chelsea had a younger team than us so I wouldn’t say losing to them was a brilliant result!
They were mate. Some really good young players they had. McQueen kid had a real nice arrogance and directness, and the other 16 yr old Walsh looked about 12 but had a football brain beyond his years. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and accept the better team won

Yes I don't think that was our strongest side by a long way last night but especially at this stage of the season they néed to give all of the lads a game.
Hopefully be a bit stronger on Friday.

Given Dado Mascoll's injury record over the last two(?) seasons we're going to have to be super patient for this season.
