EFL Cup Matches | Round 4 | 29/30 Oct '24

Good draw in the sense that liverpool and arsenal both should go though so that should be at least 3 extra matches for them.

That's a really good draw for us that. Arsenal and dippers should both expect to progress but not without some effort and if they do, they'll have a semi final double header against either each other, united, spurs, Newcastle or Brentford, all those potentials are tough games you wouldn't want to play during a busy period.

At least one and possibly both of our title rivals are going to look back and wish they'd have exited the competition when we did.

Arsenal played only 3 of their regular starting line up (Raya, Saliba, Martinelli) last night so I'm not sure it's going to have much impact TBH. Possibly if they get to the semis they'll play a stronger team.

Raya didn't play but you had a full first team out bar the keeper. timber, Merino, Jesus, Saliba and martinelli all started, saka, havertz and partey all came on. It might not have a huge impact this round as you played this fixture in the midst of your 2 man injury crisis but let's see how healthy your squad is looking mid december and you haven't got a midweek break for months.

Jesus is hardly a 1st team pick though. Hes not even 1st choice attacking sub. From our best starting XI it was Raya, Saliba and Martinelli (although Martinelli frequently gets rotated for Trossard).

Re Havertz, Partey etc they came on in the 2nd half when we were already 2-0 up and cruising and was to give them I guess some minutes (not sure what Arteta was thinking TBH).
