EFL play-offs could move from 4 teams to 6

So in our centurions season - where we finished 19 ahead of 2nd - 6th place gooners could in theory win the league, after finishing THIRTY SEVEN points behind the 'winners'.....
Yeah now that aint right you finish top and that should be it ...............you have done the buisness over a long hard season not over a 3 game series

I think the playoffs have been great tbh i bet you any money that money generated since there introduction outweighs what would hsve been without them.
Your lot would have gone straight up in 99 but would that have been a thing of folklore compared to what really happened ?????

As for points gaps and it not being fare they all know the rules,York owner last season saying it wasnt fair that the gap between them and the others was massive ............a fair point untill you look back and the last two promotions for York was achieved finishing in 6th place ............you cant have it both ways can you.
I agree about the play-offs bringing excitement to leagues that can often be decided with several games yet to be played.
Think the York Chairman was also annoyed that only the Champions of the National League are automatically promoted ?
If you are a fan of any of the EPL clubs, there's little chance of winning the FA Cup or League Cup.
So Promotion is your only chance of success.
If the Promotion places are decided by say Easter, the remaining games can be meaningless if you're mid-table.
The play-offs give teams hope if they put together a winning run.
Agree that only 4 teams should be involved though...

To be honest its about time that the national league is turned in to the 5 tier of the football league any how

Yes but think of the money that would have generated.
10 ? play off games where Sky pay huge sums to have them at 8.30pm Friday and Saturday. 4.30 Sunday
The clubs could make many millions of pounds as the season goes into June (and then straight to pre season friendlies)
You have to look at the bigger picture eboblue.

it's coming their just testing waters using the championship

parry will be behind it just using risdale to deflect

I've got an idea. Have a play off where every team plays every other team once at home and once away from home. Whoever wins that is the league winner, and whoever finishes in the relegation positions goes down a division, and whoever finishes in a promotion position gets promoted. This way would make it impossible for the eighth best team to gain promotion at the expense of the fourth best team.

I can't imagine why nobody has thought of this before. Maybe I should patent it.
It will never take off
