Probably a graphical issue rather than anything else. If you notice where these are used, often the text covers much of the left anyway and it likely looks better to have text on blue background than all over elano.

Bit daft really if Hughes is allowing him to leave as we have absolutely no creative back up for Stephen Ireland. Totally understandable that Elano would want to leave though for first team football as it is a world cup season and he doesn't want to risk being left out of the Brazil squad for the 2nd finals in a row.
