Try other leccy things.
In recession security seems to do well, people wanting to protect what they have, increase in crime etc.
Try SSR personel, or ring round the local CCTV alarm companies.
I know that this might no cover the course work, but its better than losing it, plus your sparky knowledge migh come in handy.
