Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Rich men putting money into football clubs is as old as professional football itself, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and others have all benefited from it and now it's our turn the only difference is that the amount of money in the modern game has priced out the local men made good and made it the preserve of oligarchs, oil sheikh's and dodgy Americans. The only new thing is the whining hypocrisy of certain other clubs and fans.

Why you and the rest of the objectors are so afraid to admit it, is what puzzles me. When we first got took over we embraced it, I distinctly remember us singing songs like "we'll buy your club and burn it down" people seem afraid to admit we spent money and lots of it to get where we are.

I've finished on the subject anyway. Mangala is overpriced ;)

I can see by your Join date that you're a Johnny-cum-lately and are now bored of the project. You Sir are a disgrace.

I love people like you, go on, show us all your York away ticket, Mr super fan and I will happily show you a picture of me in the final game of the old Kippax on my 4th birthday, Johnny-cum-lately, wind your fucking neck in.

1) I didn't go to York away

2) I've repeated many times on here that Wrexham away on Boxing Day was the true test of Blueness as we were already in 13th place before kick off.

3) I was at Wrexham away on Boxing Day.

4) I was in the Wrexham end because I'm hardcore.

5) Was your picture of yourself at the Kippax Last Stand in the official match programme?

6) Mine was.

7) I'm winding you up you fucker.

8) Although points 1-6 are all true.

Been reported now in USA that City will look at Dortmund pair Matts Hummels and Nevan Subotic along with Mangala in the Summer as a partner for Vincent Kompany ....both the Dortmund centerbacks could be used in a swap deal for Dzeko ...... Fox soccer USA report

Seen this on twitter earlier, sure it was a German sports network reporting it as well.

-- Fri Jan 31, 2014 9:53 pm --

I didn't make the programme unfortunately, only once been that lucky. The Everton game when Danny mills scored an absolute screamer, I'm in there somewhere.

Because I'm not a hypocrite nor do I bury my head in the sand. We got lucky and bought success, someone tell me I'm wrong. It's not a problem to me, it's the club I love, however we win trophies is fine with me, I'd argue after years of suffering we deserve this good fortune. You need money to compete and we have billions.

Anyway this is a transfer thread about Mangala, lets not turn this into a completely different topic.

newsflash show me a club that hasnt bought success in the modern era and i`ll show you a team thats won fuck all.

show me a set of fans that wouldnt want our owner and i`ll show a set of lying scum

Exactly, I fully acknowledge we've bought success. How then any of us can scowl at PSG is hilarious.

i find it ironic the seem to be able to buy anyone they want without a word being said. perhaps plattini having a son (Laurent) conected to psg and the Qatari`s through Burrda prevent him from mouthing off about spending their own money to improve their football club

So what are we saying here? PSG are doing something that we used to do, but now it's wrong and stupid? There seems to be an arrogance and ignorance among some of us. The only reason we have changed our approach is FFP, otherwise we would be bidding for the likes of Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo etc...every summer.

I don't get why we're trying to take the moral high ground over PSG, I think some of it is just sour grapes that they can spend bigger than we can.
You're the one who turned this into a conversation about "moral high ground", all I said was that PSG is not a club run by people who think particularly strategically about player recruitment, because it's not. If something shiny appears they'll snaffle. I look back on such things as our expensive mediocre-striker splurge a few years ago as you referenced, and cringe, in the same way that I look at PSG now.

In that case I will apologise, I thought you were trying to make out that we weren't culpable of exactly the same thing.

Hummels. Subotic looks like a terminally ill version of Demichelis.
