Super agent' Mendes to aid City's Porto swoop Manchester City
Last updated: 17 minutes ago A Manchester City delegation is heading to Portugal for talks over £40m-rated Porto duo Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando. City officials are ready to splash the cash in the next 24 hours after going top of the Premier League and announcing record financial figures which indicate the club are on track to comply with Uefa's Financial Fair Play rules. Porto centre back Mangala is being targeted after City scoured the transfer market for a left-sided defender to replace Joleon Lescott, who wants to leave to get regular football. But 22-year-old Mangala is so highly-rated he could surpass Matija Nastasic in the pecking order and become a natural fit alongside Vincent Kompany, although he would be ineligible for City's Champions League clashes against Barcelona, having already appeared for Porto in the competition. The Frenchman recently changed agent to Jorge Mendes and City officials are due to meet the Portuguese 'super agent' on Thursday to broker a deal for the £30million-rated defender, who cost Porto £6m from Standard Liege in 2011. Midfielder Fernando, 26, is a Brazilian-born midfielder who recently became a Portuguese citizen - which greatly enhances his chances of a Premier League move. Manchester United are also said to be interested in him, but reports claim City are ready to broker a double deal with Porto that could net the Portuguese champions as much as £40million. by Taboola From the Web
