Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

This is fantastic news on three levels. One, he’s a fucking great player, genuinely my favourite non-City player in the league this season. Two, it means we can attract the next best thing even without the Guardiola effect. Three, there’s not a cat in hell’s fucking chance on earth, he’s choosing City, without serious serious confidence we’re about to be cleared of - at the very least - the vast majority of charges especially the serious ones.

If Maresca and Anderson are announced soon, we’re cleared in my opinion.

I'd have thought that their contract would mention a clause for relegation in the small print to protect the player.

Why even bother joining in the first place? Why would City sign someone now with that clause in place if they’re going to have to just activate it? City giving Forest £100m for Anderson, only to immediately lose him on a get out clause, due to relegation, would be the worst bit of business a football club has ever done.

There most probably is but we aren't forking out £100m to then be relegated and forced to sell for a fraction. If anything we'd be harvesting cash prior to the outcome if there were any genuine concerns

If Viana pulls this off it’s going to be insane, similar to the Gvardiol deal Leipzig wanted 100 mil too and we negotiated. This signing will prove to everyone he is the right man for the job

Majority of this forum were powerwanking themselves silly over Reijnders last summer. He was the answer to all our midfield concerns according to this forum, even moreso than Anderson is this summer.
Anderson is proven Prem quality tho, Reijnders looked fantastic in seria a

Love the optimism mate. I’m more weary of transfers theses days. Until the player actually plays for city then he could be the next best thing or another player that didn’t work out. We have plenty of them that could go 50/50.

Maybe a bit of courtesy relation was built when we sold them McAtee at a reasonable price and loaned out Ortega.

Very true. I do think the way we conduct business generally helps us work with certain clubs again in the future.

Anderson not having a release clause makes this the sort of signing we would typically take an age over, or just avoid. I'm sure, like plenty of our business we want this done before the World Cup to ensure his value doesn't increase further so hoping it is done soon.

I have to defend Kova a bit. He's done, more or less, the job he was brought in to do. Nobody could have expected him to do much more, especially without Rodri beside him. And at the stage in his career that he's at, i.e. the evening of it.
The others, however, have been distinctly underwhelming. Nico G has had some good games, to be fair.
Nico G is a weird one for me. The lad looked like he was properly growing into that position in his run of games before the new year, then Rodders comes back and Pep just froze him out, only to play a handful of minutes. Now the games he did play after Rodders came back he was underwhelming at best. I remember Pep saying something about wanting him to pass forward quicker, then after, he was kinda gone. Just strange how Pep was adamant to play him even when Rodders was injured. Kova on the other hand, whilst never letting the team down, isn't the answer,. In the words of Jimmy Wag, date of birth disease. I also think this last injury has had a big affect on him. We need new young blood in.

Apart from signing Kalvin Phillips!

I see the "United snub Anderson" headlines have started, so that means he's a blue.

United clearly briefing that they've turned him down instead of admitting they can't afford him.
