Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

120M whats??

You may notice I used £, not €.
£100M is about €116M.

And, notice the potential add-ons and deal structure go put them in a great cash position to cover the cost of replacements and detract SIGNIFICANTLY from their FFP/PSR troubles.

Lastly, I’m sure the **** never changed his mind by a penny in negotiations!

Your 4m short ;)

Would be another Rice situation. Don’t pay the money for a good player and we end up spending 140m+ on inferior players. Buy cheap, buy twice and we’ve bought more than twice. Had we bought Rice we wouldn’t have ended up spunking 140m on Nico G, Philips and Reijnders ( + Nunes really)
yeah you're right rice was outstanding driving arsenal forward the other night

Rice would have been phenomenal for us because we wouldn’t have relied on him for build up. We could’ve played any combination of him, Silva and Rodri and our buildup wouldn’t have suffered.

He’s also much better than all the players we spent millions on.

He is that typical English workhorse. Technically average but takes a good corner and runs a lot. One of those players who gets huge praise just for running but if you look at him in the big games, he almost always is a peripheral player.

Anderson is already a better player than Rice.

City aren’t paying £120mill if true?

We’ve walked away in the past when a player has been overpriced.

Know doubt the Rags will pay £100mill-£120mill now they are back in the CL.

Or maybe Arsenal after their PL and CL windfall. But do they really need another midfielder?

Forget any other club.

That aside, I’m sure City and Forest, along with the Forest owner, Demis" Ventouris-Roussos, will come to an agreement on the transfer fee.

Completely disagree with your take on Rice. Without him in that midfield, Arsenal aren't winning the league. And he'd have walked into our midfield once Rodders picked up his injury.

I honestly think we'd be sitting on six-in-a-row if we'd have signed him.
Agree to disagree. (Not denying I was disappointed not to get him)

He’s the glue that holds the team together. He stops more than he creates, but can still create.

It would be a huge mistake to let him go to a rival while failing to adequately improve our midfield.

God, they'll be a struggle to palm off.
Reijnders made the Dutch world cup squad. Frimpong didn't and I rate him pretty highly.

Reijnders started off well enough but I think he's one of those players who needs game time. He was midfielder of the year when he signed for us, admittedly a lower bar but to get the award of the best in the league at any level age he must have something about him. A change of manager might just suit him.

Marmoush had scored a goal every two games played on average this season. That's a decent return for a player that's not getting much game time.

This really not like the Rice situation. While many pretend it is, it isn't. Rice wanted Arsenal. He wanted to be in London. Sure, if Arsenal hadn't gone for him and we did, he'd have come here ( just like Semenyo) who by the way also would have preferred Arsenal if they had gone for him, fortunately for us, they didn't and we got him.

Rice money was excessive, but he always preferred Arsenal. So the money wasn't the issue. His preference was. Its like Wirtz in that regard.

This is different. We are his first choice option and we are very interested. It will get done!!!

The only question is who else is coming. I wouldn't mind Scott, the Dutch RB, a Backup Goalie and a Winger/forward if Savio leaves.

Can see arsenal spending on Morgan Rogers.

If he injuries his ACL during the WC and we had signed him then, we would have a ~£100m on the treatment table and the squad would be one light in a crucial position If that happened we would move on and maybe come back at a later date

Which is why I said it would take a really serious injury to put us off buying him.

You really can't do these kind of what ifs. We could sign him after the world cup and he do his ACL in his first training session. It is what it is. Right now he is fit and healthy and that's the player we're trying to sign.
