Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

Robertson and Sensei
Ah, figured Robertson but didn't know about the Bournemouth guy.

Not sure they're signings that will make a huge difference tbh - Robertson maybe has 2 years left, but will at least bring the right attitude etc. He might well find playing for Spurs more difficult than he's used to though!

I wouldn't say Senesi is better than Van Der Ven or Romero, but a solid signing and good enough for the division at least.

Classic sales tactic, we'll meet in the middle no doubt, £100 maybe £105 with the inevitable add ons, they probably won't be far off £120 when all said and done. He's 23, home grown and already the best CM in the league. He's the golden goose, him alone would be enough to get us over the line next season imo assuming we dont lose Rodri.

If he has a good world cup it wouldnt surprise me if the likes of Bayern/ Madrid come sniffing

When was the last time Real Madrid paid over 100m for a player

Yeh it's been a while probably Bellingham, but they've saved a lot of money recently with free transfers so I'd imagine they'll a decent chunk to spend this summer.

All that being said i'm pretty sure we'll get him, he fits the club perfectly.

This is Bruno G and Rice all over again, the club doesn’t wanna sell their best player this price is meant to deter other clubs.

This players profile is VITAL for our rebuild. I would pay the money. 120 mil in the grand schemes of things isn’t that crazy when he’s gonna be here for 10 years. People saying we could get Vitnha and co okay go and get people that have no transfer fee good luck with that.

The club didn’t wanna pay the money for Bruno or Rixd and wasted the money on mediocre players who needed costing way more, Phillips, Nico G, Reinjders, Nunes, combined cost way more than when we should’ve just paid the 100m for Bruno G/Rice.

I’m perfectly happy not getting a winger just so we can spend more for the midfield. This position is vital. We’re not PSG we don’t play false 9 and we have a GK that can’t pass we need the best possible midfield

There are multiple reports saying they paid a signing on fee to Mbappe of circa +£120m. Bellingham cost around £90m with +£30m in add ons.

they happily paid 80m plus 20 mil add ons for Tchoameni in 2022. Lmao idk why people are stressing over money that isn’t theirs just cough up the money.

Think they want a top player now they tap them up get them for nought! Rodri will be next for them

Reijnders had one good game vs Wolves..that's it. To say he had a good start is a slight over exaggerated. The rest of tge time he was incredibly poor and popping up with a goal or assist here or there does not take away from the fact that 99.9% of the time he was like a ghost and had little impact on games

Technically he is a good player but so unsuitable for the premiership

He should be first out the door....he ain't sold kid who is suddenly going to develop physicality and a spine!

Agreed. I like them both (particularly think Reijnders will do well under Maresca) but they’re massive wages in case we do want to cash in.

Posted this 9 days ago. It’s happening again. We’ll not go beyond £100m for Anderson and will spend about £150-200m over the coming seasons on players that are just not quite good enough when we could have got the one that is good enough for less than that. Sometimes ‘overpaying’ is the right thing to do.
Completely agree. Sometimes you have to stop trying to spread the money around and simply pay what it takes for the player who genuinely elevates your team. There aren't many midfielders out there capable of transforming a side in the way Elliot Anderson can. He's got everything, energy, intelligence, technical quality, physicality and a mentality that sets him apart. He's extremely driven and appears very level headed.

As you've said, we've spent significant sums on four or five players when that money could have been concentrated on the one player we truly needed. Elite talent comes at a premium, and that's the reality of the market. If Nottingham Forest are holding out for a fee north of £100 million, then we should be doing everything possible to find a deal that works. Players of Anderson's calibre don't become available very often, and when they do, you have to be prepared to be decisive like Arsenal did with Rice. Rice has elevated that side mentally, more so than physically.
