Elliot Anderson

Got to stop buying mediocre players for over inflated fees. If anything bringing a couple of defensive recruits may be more prudent.

Fuck this net spend bullshit....we ain't far off the top but this squad ain't nowhere near as good as it needs ti be

We cant expect much from Rodri sadly, and while I think Nico is actually doing really well he needs support he isnt Rodri (no one is)

Reijnders leaves us to exposed and Bernardo is in his last season, Kovacic is cooked and Foden/Cherki will never be natural CM's....

We need energy and quality on that ball...this guy offers that

Maybe hes overpriced but fuck it....he improves our XI like Rice would've done now look how that turned out

Try Nico O'Reilly first before going into the transfer market. Perhaps buy another LB or even get another RB in to challenge Nunes.

Why not do both? Kovacic was injury prone when we got him, he's subsequently older and injured more; Bernardo is pretty much guaranteed to be going next year; Rodri is going to have a long recovery. Why not get a midfielder in and give O'Reilly minutes in midfield? Might need some trickery in loans but can't expect Nico G to take all the minutes

It was tongue in cheek. I haven't seen much of Anderson to be honest, but wouldn't be rushing to spend anywhere near £100m on him after a good 4 or 5 months of form.

It’s not just 4/5 months of good form though, he was good enough at Newcastle at 21 for Forest to spend £40m on him.

I saw a Forest fan explain it really well recently, at Newcastle and in his first season at Forest he was an exceptional hoover/destroyer, he’d just run nonstop mopping stuff up and breaking up play really effectively. Then at the u21 Euros he found himself in an England team that dominated possession and suddenly seemed to work out he could look after the ball and do that side of things too. Now this season, he’s started creating from deep and showed exceptional passing ability and technique.

It’s very like Rice’s development. Up until a year or so before he moved, Rice was just a guy running around snapping into as many tackles as be could and was pretty limited in possession. Then in his last season at West Ham he became captain and really wanted to win the European trophy with West Ham so he started taking on a lot more responsibility in attack and revealed himself to be a great all rounder not just a destroyer.

So it’s not 4/5 months of good form, it’s 2/3 years being an excellent midfield destroyer and then showing everyone there’s a lot more to his game that makes him a much more complete player.

Like others have said I don’t think it’s an either or type situation. We need two CM’s really. One of them might be O’Reilly in the long run but we can’t have just the two Nico’s for such a crucial position. Kovacic is most likely off in the summer and there’s no guarantee on Rodri’s fitness these days. Ideally we’d get someone in in Jan, give O’Reilly some minutes there and take stock in the summer. We’ve been spoilt for a long time with Fernandinho and Rodri in that position. Both players could do the job of two men. I love Nico but he’s not currently at their level and needs some help in there. Also he’s playing every minute available currently and will need rest from time to time

I think Nico G is doing a good job considering Bernie’s legs are gone and we have makeshift full backs.

Not a knock on anyone though. How many times have we seen a City team click around now and go on a run.
