Elliot Anderson

That maybe true but we’re spectacularly bad at off-loading big wages and, a couple of years out of the CL and we might be under a fair bit of financial pressure.

Why would we be spending a couple of years out of the CL?

Also I don't think we are bad at offloading big wages, who have we been stuck with in the last few years?

There is no such player, unfortunately.

Sign Fernandinho "The Yaya replacement"

"Don't be silly there's no such thing"

Sign Rodri "The Fernandinho replacement"

"Don't be silly there's no such thing"

SIgn Anderson...

They are all a bit different, but we exist at a level, both in terms of on pitch success and financially, that we can and will replace our club legends with players who can be equally world class in the same position.

Cheers for that mate, I didn’t realise we’ll never be out of the CL…

Sign Phillips, sign Gonzalez, sign Reijnders, sign another 3 keepers but keep Ortega, get Lewis on a 5 year deal, get Savinho on a similar deal. If we’re not off-loading players we’re paying a lot for some of them to hang around the place.

Craig Hope is saying £80-100m...I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we can get him for cheaper.

He's the from midfielder in the PL, is going to start for England at the world cup, and he's 23. Everyone knows we will pay £100m for the right player because we've done it before.

Plus United and Liverpool are supposed to be interested, so we don't have a free run at him.

If we could get it at the lower end, it's basically Rodri's price with 6 years of transfer fee inflation, which I think would be pretty good going.

As far as mega transfers go, I think it's relatively safe. He's already played for 2 very big clubs in Newcastle and Forest, he's played CL and will probably go deep in the Europa this season, so he's used to playing a full PL season with European football. His injury record is fine - he had a stress fracture in his back 2 years ago but no sign of it lingering, it's basically the only injury he's ever had.

Agree he will be 90/100m that is the going rate for a 23 year old England international from another premier team!

Also with other clubs wanting him first we have to persuade him to come to us even if it’s a big wage!

Sorry are you unhappy that the club replaced Ederson with Donnarumma? I don't see what Ortega, a bloke who was always signed to be 2nd choice on a literal free transfer has to do with anything?

You seem to be under the weird assumption every single player we ever sign will be world class.

Given we've been in it for 15 consecutive seasons, I think you have to have a reason to think we'll suddenly drop out for *multiple seasons* before getting worked up about it.

Yes please! Forest wanted Rico last summer didn’t they and would no doubt have an interest in Bobb? Deals to be had either way imo

I wouldn't be surprised if we sell Ake in January because Koeman has said he won't get called up if he isn't playing, and we loan Bobb and include Rico in the Forest deal.

We bring in Anderson and Semenyo and move Khusanov to full on Ake replacement and not just a right back fill in.

He’d certainly provide the energy that our midfield currently lacks. Would be a decent fit I think, and his age/nationality/PL experience work in his favour. Doubt we’d pay anything like the figures quoted though.
We said that about Rice and should have paid it, if it was true he’d have come. Same with Caicedo etc. Sometimes you should just pay it and accept they are right for the team.

Jeez, £80m wtf. I don’t watch much football other than City but I’ve literally never heard of this kid

The fact he’s an “England international” is no indicator that he’s good enough for us.

Weren’t we interested in Morgan Gibbs for a similar fee ? Nobody at all is disappointed that we didn’t get him.
