Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter

A quick glance there when either have lost is one thing but they gang up on Twitter. Last time I was on there I mentioned Milner’s non 2nd yellow on Sky’s tweet and got hundreds of replies of abuse from them.

On Twitter, Reddit and a lot of other sites you're either with the flow or against it. On sites like Twitter and Reddit your comments can be hidden just from having a different point of view to the 'flow'.

That's why I still think forums like this one are so good. You can actually see a bit of back and forth from people with different opinions. Then if it gets particularly bad the mods can step in.

Genuinely curious as to what it is that people feel they’ve been censored over. What is it people feel they can’t say?
Probably something racist, sexist or otherwise offensive. Or more likely, they enjoy hiding behind the outlandish users who post it for them.

Reported.

The onus is on you to do that though and people dont like to take personal responsibility for that and want to be outraged and get people cancelled.

There will always be a delicate line to what is acceptable and what isn’t, but that’s down to Twitter to decide. I’m not in those spheres, so don’t really care what Musk does with it.
Well fortunately we are intelligent enough to know that just because we've read something we don't agree with, doesn't mean we have to cry in our nappies.
It's like meeting the pub dickhead, it's not compulsory to engage with him, you can always walk away, but if you do engage, don't be moaning about it afterwards. ;-)

Twitter is what you want it to be.

I have a no following dickheads policy. I have to actively seek out these spats and cranks, which I do sparingly.

Agree with this. I don’t post to any social media outside of a couple of forums like this but Twitters the only social media platform I regularly look at. Very selective with who I follow and never bother looking at threads or responses though.

It is except for the rash of “suggested” posts/threads which clutter my feed. Those assholes think I’m a Liverpool fan as of yesterday because I clicked on that (now deleted) “one step closer” tweet.

Be interesting what he plans to do with it. That a huge investment.

Twitter is great for finding out local stuff quickly like if theres a power outage, traffic due to car crash or similar, someone always tweets what going on
Maybe it's an ego thing si? He'll definitely monetise it more though, as he's a businessman, that's what they do.
I personally couldn't care less what he does with it really, I gave up on Facebook years ago, and I'll do the same with this if it no longer suits.
It's probably for the young uns predominantly anyway, a fast approaching foc like myself is starting to give less of a fuck by the day....

Twitter should be the wild west but it's now the bastion of the perpetually offended. You have an echo chamber to the left and an echo chamber to the right.

Scouse fans are utter vermin on it too ;)
Without algorithms, it’d be unreadable.

It might be moot though if he starts charging for it. I doubt people would pay much to use it.

Oh right, so, if I've got this right, you're not moaning about talking to me last week then?

There's some triggering about the purchase on twitter.

You're portrayal of it seems to be confirmed. The trumpers are celebrating wildly whilst there's some grown panty wetters doing the opposite.
It will be interesting to see what he does with it.

Echo chambers in tatters and million upon millions of people having to think for themselves, the world has gone mad I tell you ;)
