Elvis

There is no amount of discussion that will ever give Elvis an objective "fair shake" in history. The myths and the writers of false saints have eroded what was real and verified what was untrue. He was great in many ways and he was culturally deprived in many others. His management was so fucking bad it basically killed any chance of good health or financial stability. But after the pathos and bullshit is gone, songs like "Marie's The Name" and "Kentucky Rain" will still be here. That's all that matters.

A wonderful talent but as you say woefully managed - those films! As for his health, people mourne that he died at 40 but given the state of him he was lucky to last that long. A real tragic story of someone being used and abused by others... ‘personal Jesus’ really sums it up.
