That audio is heart breaking, the poor fucker knew something was going to happen.
So sad.
So sad.
I expect there will be many times when a plane has problems before flying and then subsequently flies to its destination without incident.
I just listened to that. It’s bloody awful. That audio is heart breaking, the poor fucker knew something was going to happen.

Just seen it in the news as well. Very very sad. How anyone, yet alone a young bloke like that can be put in a position like that is a tragic waste of lifeI just listened to that. It’s bloody awful.
I think Sky are w@nkers for lots of reasons obviously but putting that audio on sky sports news is proper wrong. I suppose blame could also be put in the brother for giving it to them. The poor bloke had minutes before he plunged into the sea. I haven't listened to it and I'm not squeamish either but it's a bit intrusive and voyeuristic for me
As both a commercial pilot (flying long haul jet airline flights) and a private pilot (flying for fun and instructing on little single engine planes out of Barton etc) I can categorically say I would not have been anywhere near where these guys were. That's not to say that flight over water in a single is unsafe, I have flown from the UK to France in a single engine aircraft but on a bright summer's day with clear weather, light winds, calm seas and appropriate equipment and a plan for if things went wrong during the short 30 minute crossing.
From the articles I have been reading from various sources would seem to indicate the aircraft was owned by a well know football agent and was being flown by his mate who was a part time private pilot and a gas engineer by trade. Absolute madness.
Of course private pilots are not trained to the standards of commercial pilots, however this does not make them in any way unsafe. As I say, I instruct on the side and there are plenty of highly competent private pilots who are trained to the standard they need to be to potter around in a simple single engine aircraft. The key is that they know what their own limits are and what the boundaries of their skills are. A basic private pilot bumbling around on a sunny day - a great hobby and really good fun. A private pilot with some instrument training bumbling around in cloud every now and again to keep their skills sharp - fine too and makes their boundaries a bit bigger and makes them safer. A private pilot bumbling around in a complex single engine aircraft, over water, at night, in winter, in cloud, above the freezing level and in a snowstorm?! No way - that's crazy.
It's absolutely tragic that a young lad with an amazing life ahead of him was ever put into this position and I think the investigation will be seriously damning.
100%, Sky are disgusting wankers they really are.I think Sky are w@nkers for lots of reasons obviously but putting that audio on sky sports news is proper wrong.
