Emmanuel Adebayor

He gets a polite clap from me. He did deliver some of the time for us - just appearing to be an idle little scrote who doesn't fit in with a team whose front line of defence is the strikers harrying and trying to regain possession the minute it's lost.

The list of those players who most fans actually think are worth booing is quite short in the Premiership era. Even Joey Barton doesn't come in for much heckling (though who knows this year - maybe we should be thanking him). Sturridge would be top of that list - we polished him up and boosted him and he treated us like shit, haggling over money in an Ashley Cole kind of way when he really isn't all that. Boateng did get some booing when he came back in Europe last year but it was fairly good-natured.

But SWP, Bellamy, Neddy, Corluka, Given, Dunny, Stephen Ireland are all welcomed back with love. Some are loved more than others but I'll be clapping Adebayor when his name's read out.

The best one for me was watching the uproar on Bluemoon when the ever-reliable Sun broke a story claiming Adebayor had said something along the lines of City fans not showing him love or some rubbish along those lines while he was still on loan at Real Madrid. As it turned out, he'd said nothing like that or at best was purposely misinterpreted to get a reaction from the gullible but by then it was too late and the knives were once again already out for the ''outstandingly lazy'' Adebayor. All the best I say.

I'm with you on that. I posted the Real interview before where he talks honestly. I found it quite interesting at the time and even more so looking back.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/13363694

There was that too but the one I was actually referring to was this:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchestercity.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=237724" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchestercity.vitalfootball ... p?a=237724</a>

If anything, he went out of his way to be complimentary about City fans and how well they treated him and how they loved him when he played at City and even at the moment when he was on loan at Real Madrid yet his words were completely twisted around.

It's as if certain fans need a reason to justify their dislike of him which is fine but not when those reasons are complete lies.

I'll clap Ade, he didn't want to leave it was just obvious he wasn't good enough. He gave us a few good memories..

Didnt he say our club gave him an headache every morning he woke up..

Much more relaxed at spurs..

On that basis he is a twat!

To be fair, hasn't our club given us all a headache at times?

There isn't an ex-city player who comes to mind that I would boo.

Boateng was an arse, but he was only here for one year so how much of a big deal is that?

I hope when he does go to Spurs, we do cheer him and not boo when he comes to the Etihad.

Show him what true fans are like!

Depends what he says about us in the press

I honesty couldn't give a damn. He was a none entity at our club. Did little positive on the basis he wasn't here that long - when you back out the time he spent on loan. There are a few negative comments attributed to him about us in the press but I have no idea if they are true. I won't boo or cheer him. Just pleased he has moved on.
