Barton is a cnut, but at the end of the day he was our cnut. A bit like Bellamy.

And he helped us big time when he got sent off.

Barton - came for free. Delivered as an academy product into the first team and produced some blinding performances all through the grimmer times. Caused a bit of behind-the-scenes aggro, but we put up with that in Mario - cigar stubs/darts take your pick. We got £5M and made Newcastle pay his 'loyalty bonus' when we got shot which was the finest bit of haggling in a long while especially as we were managerless at the time I think. He's been toxic with occasional sparks of performance for Newcastle and QPR. As a human being you wouldn't just cross the road to avoid him, you'd leave town, but in terms of long-term academy graduates, he comes second to SWP in terms of what he did for City (Micah being a bought-in).

The best one for me was watching the uproar on Bluemoon when the ever-reliable Sun broke a story claiming Adebayor had said something along the lines of City fans not showing him love or some rubbish along those lines while he was still on loan at Real Madrid. As it turned out, he'd said nothing like that or at best was purposely misinterpreted to get a reaction from the gullible but by then it was too late and the knives were once again already out for the ''outstandingly lazy'' Adebayor. All the best I say.

I'm with you on that. I posted the Real interview before where he talks honestly. I found it quite interesting at the time and even more so looking back.

If anything, he went out of his way to be complimentary about City fans and how well they treated him and how they loved him when he played at City and even at the moment when he was on loan at Real Madrid yet his words were completely twisted around.

It's as if certain fans need a reason to justify their dislike of him which is fine but not when those reasons are complete lies.

He speaks very well of city and the supporters. To be honest, I don't know if it's for the cameras but he comes across well in his interviews and I gain more respect for him as a person.

I can understand fans feeling frustrated with his attitude on the pitch, because on his day he was excellent but he looked disinterested more often than not . I feel he had more to offer us than what we received.

It's just unfortunate for him, that there was a change in manager. Under MH he would have been playing well and been an important player, in a top 6 side. He isn't the player that Mancini wanted, and isn't as good as our other forwards who also fit into the side better.

He was however, an important signing at the time to take us to the next level.

Excellent player but the correct move for both parties. Just reading that interview it highlights again the transformation of the club under Mancini. Ade saying you cant bring me on for 15 seconds, Bellamy dictating how often he is prepared to train and the type of training, Tevez not wanting to train twice a day and that is without the influence of Robinho.

Some great players have fell along the wayside but as a club we seem to have a squad pulling in the right direction. Compare the personalities of Bellamy, Ade, Robinho to there replacements Aguero, Silva and Dzeko. The contrast is striking.

I do in a way feel sorry for Barton. It seems like he was bought up poorly, just look at what his brother/half brother did. It also seems like he's been poorly advised since he started playing football. He could have been an international standard midfielder if he didn't fuck up every 6 months.
