Employers

Most employers don't even check, just tell him to say he's never been convicted of anything

It depends, we do and every one of our clients does but then again he’d be at a desk if he worked for our clients so it may be irrelevant.

Define “a bit”...
A few charges -assaults, antisocial behaviour/drink-related. no prison

Timpsons have a program for ex convicts to enter into the work place. Apparently 10 percent of their workforce have come from that background. Might be worth having a look at them.
I think this refers to prisoners only, but will have a look

are the Kray brothers still looking for ,erm, associates?
well, he is a hard nut, so 50 years earlier he could have ! He has worked as doorman

He would be ideal for a job working with the hands, but unfortunately they usually involve a lot of shoulder work which he will not last long

As someone else said, Timpsons have a very good record in terms of employing ex-offenders. John Timpson is a big Blue, too.
Back in the 70s Timpsons Royals were my favourite shoes. Sturdy, fashionable and hard wearing. Usually made from all leather, they were in a brogue style. Great for kicking Scousers,Cockneys,Leeds scumbags and best of all United fans.
Or even better when equipped with a stuck on leather sole, they gave unequalled grip in wet or dry conditions so that you could turn around and get out of Dodge as fast as possible when it all kicked off with the above mentioned groups.
