Watched Emyr Huws skipper the U21's at the Etihad on Tuesday night against Wolves. I thought he was the best player on the pitch even though he was up against four Wolves who had 1st team experience, two in the Premiership and one international. He's strong, quick and can keep the ball under pressure and has a great passing range off either foot. He has to move to get some regular football and experience in the professional leagues. Unfortunately the way City are set up now he's not going to get much of that at City, even though I think he's potentially better than anything we've got (bought). I seriously think that this boy is going to be one of the best home grown midfield players in the premiership in a couple of years, alongside maybe Jack Wilshire. On a non City issue he's not even in the Wales squad for the Scotland game tomorrow. I would like to know who's better than him? Bale and Ramsey ok. Ledley?

How sad to see football supporters being rude about lower league clubs
It was only the late eighties that City were well down the tables.... not everybody gets dodgy foreign millions invested to buy success.
What short memories...Outside the premiership/ media / Sky TV bubble, football is actually a game played by ordinary people at parks, schools and clubs.. and smaller towns are represented by pros, some who move up the ranks ( like Joe Hart from Shrewsbury).. these pros put in the effort, ply their trade and are supported by genuine fans regardless of winning silverware... remember this?.. not Europe, not paying a fortune to watch millionairres who care nothing about the team badge ... not squabbles with other millionaires from across Manchester or London.
Anyway, Northampton (new pitch laid last year at great cost byw with plenty of grass on it) are still battling away with a small squad under manager Aidy Boothroyd. Local rivals ( and great teams) have sadly slipped under in recent months... both Rushden Diamonds who got into the league and non league stalwarts Kettering have gone out of business.. Kettering could not fulfill their fixture this week.... v sad and a big loss to their communities
In last few weeks tNorthampton's only 2 centre mids, both old pros have been injured and form has dipped. Cobblers fans will be delighted to see Emyr come and help out and hopefully this lad can learn from League 2 how to battle and compete under pressure... they already have a lad from WBA and Liverpool on their books doing similar work and they are both developing well.
Like i said, very sad to see inane comments made on this site by fans of what? ...foreign millionaires who are bought to buy success?.. or the beautiful game of football?

Not sure that is what we were doing, Kettering and the Diamonds were my local teams and have watched City play Corby not too long ago. As a local Cobblers has been a good description for some time, owners have not done them justice despite the decent stadium!

Are you trying to say Northampton are too big and good for Emyr? or that we are just being brutally honest in saying NTFC have a poor team and he should be playing every game?
Dodgy foreign millions? I can only assume you are talking about Chelsea? in which case what do they have to do with anything?

Is there anything else about our history that you'd like to share? mm? All because of a few comments that you find 'rude'...i can only conclude that you are an overly sensitive person.
Anyways, goodluck to Emyr. I'm kinda disappointed that he isn't playing in a higher league but i hope he gains valuable experience none the less.

The "rude" comments you refer to appear to be from football folk who have actually been and watched the Cobblers and formed their own opinion.
City fans do not have short memories at all.

Ah I see you are hurt by the comments on here and trying to hurt us back. You could of tried harder mate throw in a "them arabs" maybe.
When we signed Huws from Swansea he was extremely highly rated (some said he was the best Welsh youngster since Giggs) and rumour had it that his fee could hit £500,000 if he made the first team (not sure what compensation ended up as). Lately he seems to have kicked on quite a bit and stood out in the midfield having moved up from the 18s to EDS. He recently won his first Wales U21 cap too in the 5-0 loss to the Czech Republic in a qualifier and that's possibly where Northampton took notice of him.
This is only his first loan move and as we've seen before kids can go on 5-6 (or more) loan deals before the club truly know what level the player is at. When I've seen him I've gotten the impression he could be a deep-lying playmaker and there aren't many British players of note who play that position. Hopefully he does well, our club needs to start producing a consistently better standard of British youths IMO and Huws is one of those we have invested quite a chunk of money into since the takeover.
