Am I right in saying with the sale of SWP there is no longer a playing link with Maine Rd(I know Ned played there for the youth team)??? If so its a really sad day in one regard, but shows how far we have come.

Well considering we were utter dog shit of a team minus 9 months of keggy football for the last 10 years its not surprising that we dont have anyone from that era anymore. The most surprising thing is that SWP was still around last season really

I like to think of it as 'the beginning' of something beautiful.

A blue sky filled with voices that ring blue moon after watching the supposed galaticos battle it out with opponents from the champions league.

Its beautiful.

I had faith in the lad. The normal MCFC misguided sky blue kind that he was gonna ping one in off the underside of the bar. Check the OS - some great goals there from SWP.

I dont need reminding of how good he was before he joined Chelsea. Its a shame they destroyed him as a player

Shit?! Apart from 9months in 10 years?! We're talking about City, not Stockport!
10 years before we left we were 5th, 9 years before we left we were 8th, we played great football under Horton and had superb players in that time like Uwe, Kinky, Quinn, Walsh, Beagrie, Goudino, Curle, Weaver, Weikens, Dunne, Sun, Horlock, Foe, Berkovic, Benarbia, Goater, Wanchope, Anelka... out of them last ten years at Maine Road we had more good seasons (93, 94, 95, 99, 2000, 2002, 2003) than bad (96, 97, 98, 2001) and the whole Oasis era and the cool cult style of supporting City as a big fuck off and antithesis of supporting United was brilliant! Remember that poster of Uwe Goudino and Walsh?; remember that poster of a redeveloped Maine Road?; remember Gio's goal against Southampton? I enjoyed the early and mid 90's and the last two seasons at Maine Road as much as I'm enjoying our current City era!

As a whole the 80's was a much worse time, the only thing better about the 80's is that we had the proper Kippax!

It is a sign of how far we have come now......Thank God!

For all the rose tinted spectacles, which often happen when we look back at our past,it is fair to say Maine road was a dilapidated out of date stadium and most of the teams and players we watched there, aside from odd exceptions were dire.

Sure i remember it with fondness. It is where i started watching football in 67/68 and i have some great memories....but we move on and hopefully upwards. For all the great memories i have some awful ones too, watching us played off the park and humiliated all too often on our own patch, the chants of ''What the f***k is going on echoing all around.

Let us hope the forseeable future sees us watch some schintilating football, great players and matches that make you tingle and the hairs stand up.

Made his debut in 2005. We moved to "CoMS" 2003
Remember that match, he came off the bench as we lost at Arsenal stadium and very nearly put one in the net.

Think people are gettin thangs confused with the fact he were on our books since bein an 14 year old teeny bopper from Latics.

With 90% of you post being irrelevant to my post or this topic. I will state that maybe only Anelka would get in our team now.

How is Dan's reply 90% irrelevant to your post? You claimed that we were an utter dog shit of a team for ten years, aside from nine months.
Dan has addressed that.

Sorry, did you just use the words 'superb' and Sun Jihai in the same sentence?
