Endoscopy

Hey there Blues! Anyone here ever had an Endoscopy? I have been having this weird symptom in my throat where I feel like there is a lump when lying on my right side and occasional heartburn. But when I lie on my left side or on my back, I don’t feel it. I do suffer from extreme health anxiety and I have pushed for and finally scheduled an Endoscopy. I am worried they might find something bad like Cancer. I should have done this long time ago and feel like I have left it too late. My CT scan recently of the abdomen has come back normal but I don’t think that actually tells anything. I am just venting here. Do they tell the results immediately after the procedure?
Had one a few weeks ago to see if the could see a cause for my internal bleeding. I was getting all worked up about it and convinced myself I wouldn't be able to do it because of the gagging.

Expressed my concerns of failure to both the Drs and nurses, but was assured I would be OK.

Sedated and a little throat numbing and they attempted to push the perescope in. I gagged a couple of times, but they said that was normal and when I next gagged, they pushed through and got beyond the gag reflex.

After that, there is no discomfort, just a weired feeling as you can feel this deep down in your pipework moving around.

Good luck, you will be fine

I had an endoscopy fifteen years ago, under anaesthetic. That was rear end upwards. I only remember feeling woozy when I woke up. This year I have had two gastroscopies, one through the nose and one through the mouth, both whilst fully conscious. The second one was on a monitor in full view, it felt like I was watching a video of cave exploration. Not much fun but necessary to eliminate potential issues.

Had one up the arse earlier this year had a TV to watch the procedure it was fascinating.
All clear by the way incase your all worried.

That sounds painful , hope all is ok now ?
All good thanks, collapsed as about to enter Stamford bridge on city away. Went home rang 111 due to stomach pains, ambulance turned up. Ended up having emergency surgery, in HDU for 2 weeks then on ward for another 2. Off work for 3 months, then 2 years of various tests such as colonoscopy, endoscopy etc before being signed off by surgeon. Now controlled by diet and exercise

Did it go OK?

I was in Hartlepool Hospital today getting a CT scan of my small intestine as the last colonoscopy couldn't get there ....... knew what a CT scan was didn't know they blew compressed air up the arse.... again - they keep drawing a blank so I am certain things are ok but sat here now which having fasted and drank the prep yesterday then being pumped up and having had a sarnie and a pie today the air is being expelled and the judgement will be when I think the air will include or move onto solids - then I'll have to dash lol
