England Call-Ups And March Fixtures.

How the hell have Bertrand, stones, and Austin not been called up. It's a joke he's not picking them on form at all. The u21 team looks good though

How the fuck do the following get anywhere near the squad:
Gibbs, Jones, Shaw, Smalling, Walker, Carrick, Henderson, Townsend and Walcott. Are they the best players we have in those positions!!
Well Walcott is still a very good and useful player and Carrick is probably our best passer of the ball at the moment. Henderson is another certainty.

I thin Bertrand has been the best English left back in the league. Apart from Clyne we really don't have any other decent right backs. Bit biased, but think Dann should be in. Has been better than either Smalling or Jones. Add Stones in too, but maybe his fitness is not great. Ashley Young deserves a place too.

Overall would put Bertrand, Dann, Stones, Young, Shawcross in and take out Gibbs, Shaw, Smalling, Jones and Townsend.
Walcott has returned from injury and done sweet FA. Carrick is so slow he makes Yaya look turbo charged and I could make those sideways passes he makes. Henderson I just don't get what he does as a footballer other than run around aimlessly waving his arms at refs and scores worldies against us. No argument with Clyne, Bertrand or Stones but you are fishing with Ashley Young, Shawcross and Dann.

If you can make the passes that Carrick makes then you should head off to nearest Prem team around, because you might get in.

Young has been very good this season and better than our other wingers. Shawcross has had a solid season as has Dann.

What I find strange is that you bemoan the selection of Smalling, Jones, but then don't want the next best centre backs in the league.
Here are some facts for you.

1. Chelsea -2 English centre backs, Terry retired Cahill in squad.
2. City -no English centre backs
3. Arsenal -no English centre backs unless you include Chambers who has not played there
4. United -Jones and Smalling who you don't want in the squad
5. Liverpool-no English centre backs
6. Southampton-no English centre backs
7. Tottenham-Dier if you want him.
8. Stoke-guess what Shawcross is in my opinion their best centre back, but I am fishing wanting him in the team. He also is the only English one.
9. Swansea-no English centre backs
10. West Ham-Tomkins is injured
11 Newcastle-Williamson
12. Crystal Palace-Dann

So since you don't want Smalling and Jones. You have a choice between Dier, Shawcross, Chambes, Williamson or Dann as their replacement.

Could do the same with the midfield, but we pick what we have.

EDIT
Could extend it further down, but apart from West Brom with Dawson and Lescott but after that we are then getting into the likes of Caulker, Ferdinand, Alex Bruce etc.

Shawcross hasn't played for Stoke for many weeks this season, due to injury.

Yeh I know he was injured for a while since the start of the year, but he is back now and has generally been good whenever I have seen Stoke. Was good against us and he is on the mind, because we have them again.

Smalling and Jones have missed a lot of football too whilst generally being very bad.

As I said if you don't want Smalling/Jones then we are left with Chambers, Shawcross, Dann, Williamson, Dier, Lescott or Dawson.

Williamson has generally been awful too.

So pick your poison. It's not a great time for English players, but the kids look decent again. Hopefully Stones, Dier, Barkley, Kane and Sterling can all become world class.

I had Curtis Davies in my head and typed John Stones?

Anyways, Davies warrants a call up ahead of Beaker or Smalling imo

Who is Beaker? Jones?

Not really seen any of Hull to judge, but I thought Davies has been poor this year and was dropped a lot. Has he been any good?

He's played more than the other two so if he's been dropped a lot it's not saying much for the United superstars is it? You mentioned Alex Bruce, you do realize you had to skip over the likes of Davies and Dawson to get to his name?

3 left backs with Betrand not being one of them is a little odd. Probably the best left back in the league this season, he's definitely been better than the 3 left backs selected.

Although it looks like Welbeck has been selected of Austin/Ings, Hodgson usually plays Welbeck out wide, so Austin and Ings were competing with Rooney/Kane/Sturridge.

The defensive selections look poor at CB, but as supercrystal7 noted, there really isn't many other options. Shaw, Jones and Smalling have all been pretty poor this season IMO, but there's just a lack of alternatives. Stones and Dier are better off in the U21s for the moment, no need to rush their development.

The U21s look good though, England have a really good bunch of young players coming through - especially when you add the younger players in the senior squad.
