Midfield is bloody awful. Mainoo looks lightweight as fuck almost every time i watch them - jones & gallagher are bang average at best - trent darby isn't a midfielder - leaving a kid with no experience and Rice. Urgh.

Mainoo plays with cement in his boots. Decent on the ball, but are so many players these days - including our goalkeeper. Too slow tracking a man.

Agree with a lot of that but Gallagher and TAA should be nowhere near a midfield spot. I’d prefer Mainoo before them. Gallagher was a disaster in the friendlies. He can’t play football. TAA glory balls it to the opposition all the time.

Mainoo is part of the reason teams just stroll through the rag midfield. He has no sense or awareness of his positioning on the pitch.

I'd rather Gallagher out of the two. I don't rate him that highly but he's certainly got a better grasp on the basics and his positioning, plus he's been decent for Chelsea in their good form recently.

Mainoo would be a liability coming up against intelligent players.

So first he didn’t pick a LB, and now that’s turned out to be bollocks the problem is just you don’t rate the LB…


I watch enough to know his issue was playing through injury, not suddenly turning to shit for no reason after 5+ years as a great player.

Trippier is a right back. He shouldn’t be viewing him as a left back, especially off the back of this season where he’s been worse than usual. It’ll be a dog mess of a summer, which has the benefit of it being his last at the helm.

Contrary to the views on here i think its a mistake in not taking Rashford.

No Rico Lewis as expected. Played once, man of the match and then Southgate forgets about him and like a fucking moth gets drawn to the light of the latest United (Mainoo) player to appear from nowhere and manage to make it into their 'excellent team'. Probably because Lewis isnt a regular at City. Realistically Ederson would get in Uniteds midfield, never mind Lewis

Rico has started 8 league games this season and has had entire months where he didn’t get on the pitch, he doesn’t deserve to be ahead of players who have played 3x as much football as him.

If you’re unhappy he’s not in the squad, go complain to Pep, him not playing the kid is the only reason he’s not in the squad.
