Probably fair enough based on performances this season. Probably best to ignore sentiment in picking Cole. I would have picked Cole based on what he has done for England, but you cannot pick teams like that.

I don't know about players personal lives and I don't care. Ashley Cole was brilliant for England nearly every time he put on the shirt. He never let us down in the tournament and never pulled out of squads. Has over a 100 caps and one of the finest players to ever play in England. I see his legacy only growing when we realise exactly what we had.

Maureen picked a rightback over him, I guess the writing has been on the wall a while now.

In the few games Cole's played in he's been quite good surprised Mourinho hasn't rotated more. I would have still taken him over Shaw purely because he's better defensively. Just goes to show just being linked to the Rags guarantees you a place:-)
