England u21 v Luxembourg (1700hrs)

Jesus thats essentially a city eds side. Probably helps that carsley is the manager, im sure he would have been aware of a fair few of these lads potential from his time at city.

Has there ever been an england national side so heavily influenced by one club side? We really are dominating the game.
If it was Rag players it be headline news, live text, documentaries made about the academy, but as us even the BBC cant be arsed even having it n the entire football page

European qualification game.

Just look at this City influenced 11........

Trafford; Lewis, THB, Wood, Doyle; Palmer, Hackney, Elliott; Madueke, Delap, Iling-Jnr
Wasn’t able to catch this at the time but thankfully I can rewatch the whole thing on YouTube.

From the sounds of it, a good match. Also, City ruining football since 2008 :)

They played well.

Carsley adopted the same system as Pep by using Rico as an inverted fullback/midfielder.

All the City lads had solid games, great for Delap to continue his confidence run - he has scored at every England level now!

THB and Doyle rarely troubled against a better than expected Luxembourg side, and both playing good passes from the back.

Palmer looked classy in the 10 role to be fair.

Their seniors lost 9-0 to Portugal last night and the BBC are wanking themselves silly over it, using the word "thrashed", mentioning Portugal have scored 24 and let in none, won Euro 2016 (although it was undeserved and boring) and then to rub salt in the wound, ended the report mentioning the U-21 loss!.

It's no surprise they didn't put Have Your Say comments on it, as they would have been ridiculed and they know it, although whoever typed that must have a sticky keyboard now.

Luxembourg are only semi-pro players with most playing their trade in third tier leagues in France and the top tier in their own country. Third tier football in France is nowhere on the same level as EFL League 1.

Their u21's put up a surprisingly good show against ours, the breakthrough didn't arrive till shortly before HT.
They have some decent talent that ply their trade in the Bundesliga amongst other competitive leagues.

The game reminded me of how good Rico is at whipping a ball into the box. He made a few runs for a 1-2 on the outside quite a bit.

Palmer looked comfortable in the games. Even Gittens that came on was at City. Madueke is going to have to learn how to pass.

Another observation, Delap doesn’t look like such a hothead anymore. Overall, an enjoyable watch.

And yet they have an outside chance of qualifying for the Euros
