I don’t think it’s unreasonable that the national sides have a get together between November and the summer, as they would without these games.
I don’t necessarily think it is, either.

But there’s also nothing really to be gained by the matches during this break.

Very little can be decided this far out from the tournament, Southgate has shown he won’t even experiment in friendlies like this to see if alternative setups/tactics could be viable, and a decent number of the players may not even be in the squad.

They largely just serve to justify Wembley, appease broadcasters and sponsors, and offer an opportunity for overworked players to pick up injuries.

What is waistcoat going to learn from this? Has he picked any new players? Is he trying a different system?
About time, get all the City players off.
