This is where not having a creative mid poses a problem. You end up just relying on the front 3 to pull something out of the hat. France are actually defending quite deep so you need someone in the middle to link play with the wide players. You won’t get that from Hendo.

If shaw is going to run the entire left side then phil should be moved nearer to kane. Shaw just brings french players to foden and kills all the space.

As a Scotsman watching this, can’t believe how easy this is for the French who are playing at walking pace. As a Scotsman, I have no time for this ungrateful nation and am hoping that England can turn this round 2nd half.
