England v Greece | 10th Oct '24 | Nations League

was all going to be the land of milk and honey when Southgate ‘f*cked’ off , yet here we are - same old slagging of the tactics, formations, individual players to blame.
Southgate was never the problem.
It’s international football, it will always be like this.

It'll always be like this because they don't have managers they respect. The reality is players have ego's. They play for the likes of Guardiola and Ancelotti and then turn up to England camp to be coached by the likes of Southgate and Carsley. What a drop off.

It's not to say you need a Hollywood name as coach, but at least someone with some real coaching ability that the players are going to see in training and see he knows what he's doing. Southgate was never that.

Just because England lost tonight, it doesn't vindicate Southgate. He's useless and scraped by low ranked teams and lost when he got into a proper game. That's the reality.

Carsley won't be the man either. It's one thing doing well coaching a bunch of eager under 21's. It's another thing managing champions league winners and whatnot, who are used to working with top coaching teams every week. they'll suss you out if you're not up to scratch.

Many of the England players are used to playing each week with their non English international team mates.

They look like a team that hasn’t been properly coached for years and years. Hopefully that result kills the idea of of Carsley getting the job.

To be truthful

we don't have a left back and try to make do
rice cannot command the midfield unless he has a partner and the options being used are poor.
Show pony arnold offers little
bellingham pllays for about 10 mins a game and offers fuck all for the rest of it
Foden gets tried everywhere and so his position is unsettled
if kanes not available play another striker ffs

Absolute dogshit, i thought it would be a nailed on bet365 superboost, most corners and an England win, Fuck you Carsley!

Southgate is fucking clueless. If he had confidence in his ability he’d be the Rags coach now so I’m hoping that result with have boosted his ego & the Rags step up their approach to get him.

We can criticise last night without it being made out to be a disaster. It was a bit of an experiment, and it didn't work. It was the Nations League, so it doesn't matter much. Even the best lose matches.

I was relieved to see that Pickford wasn't just launching it all the time, which is already a big positive.

Southgate's football was dire and negative, even against weaker nations. Carsley is at least attempting to be positive. I'd rather we lose at a World Cup with that approach than scrape through matches and then lose anyway playing as we did under your wonderful Southgate.

Anyone actually considered a lot of our players are overated? Miss placed passes..poor control..bad decisions..woeful tackling.. that's not the managers fault. No engkish clubs in champs league semi's .. our press whip up hype..idiots believe. Lets just fk intl football off. Its sh*te and england are always about 7th or 8th really

They looked better the previous game. This game was a mixture of insane tactics, no midfield and poor individual performances.

Whether it’s waistcoat or Carsley they are both FA yes men who haven’t got the balls to drop certain players whose attitude stinks or are not team players. The English team needs a manager with some bollocks who will take no messing and these egos who are undroppable need to put up or sit on the bench
Does such a manager exist who also has the squeaky-clean image the FA are looking for, and would they be willing to do the job.
We should have kept Fat Sam irrespective of what the gutter press said. He may be a dinosaur in many ways but he showed he could play decent football while at Bolton.

It’s only one game.

I agree and I actually want Carsley to succeed, just nice for England to lose a match and not be tagged in by loads of posters telling me it’s all Southgate’s fault. Reality is England are very good side, with real quality youngsters, we’ll win vast majority of games and slip up sometimes, most games will be turgid, sometimes we'll play amazing - that’s the nature of football and especially international football, i've never known anything different.

The time to try that formation (and credit for trying) is in the last 30 mins when you're 3 nil up. It did look like the team was picked following advice from the back pages. The press got the team they wanted. Can they just admit they know FA?

I would be very, very happy to consign our international football to the World Cup and the European Championship only. These games are, ultimately, meaningless.

They replaced even more meaningless, friendlies. In order for International football to be viable football associations and federations need revenues stream from regular games.

And managers need the games to be able to experiment in less risky situations, otherwise they'll managerial turnover will mirror the football league championship.
