Is USA considered good ?

Average,I'd say.

No doubt,if and when we turn them over, there will be a rush to proclaim what a useful side they are.

You can only beat the team in front of you.
So kudos for winning well against Iran.

Average I would have thought. Same as Wales. Should be comfortable wins for England really.

Good sides would probably be the likes of Brazil, Argentina, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany. I think the winner will be one of those (or England). I would have maybe added Holland but was surprised by how poor they were yesterday.

I don't think there's a truly outstanding team at present. Each has its own weaknesses. Must be a great chance for England if the manager can stay positive when he comes up against the better teams.

It’s too to tell yet whether there’s an outstanding team but England have started well. Need to stay positive though without the giddy press mob knocking one out every day.

Genuinely thought Rice was bang average. Gave the ball away a few times that against a better team could have been punished

I’ve never understood the hype he gets

Maybe I’m wrong, I don’t watch West Ham every week, so I’m happy to be proven wrong, but to me he seems like a trier and spirited player, but nothing really outstanding in terms of actual ability.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s definitely value in having a player who gives it 100 % every game and you need players like that

Just in terms of pure footballing quality, I think he’s just pretty decent. No issue with him in the team though, he’s our best option in the role he plays. The golden boys Gerrard and Lampard served up lesser performances when it mattered for England and played hot potato with the ball, couldn’t wait to get rid of it. So I think Rice has done well.

But then I’ve never thought our man Phillips is any better really in terms of ability, again, hope I’m proven wrong.

I agree.

There’s no team I look at and think they’re flawless. England lack some depth at centre back for sure, but none of the teams are exactly that vintage Milan side when it comes to defensive quality either. It’ll probably make for a decent World Cup in terms of games.

There’s no real front runners for me, nobody I’d definitely want to avoid. I think all the teams considered to be in the running should be fancying their chances against the rest if they play well.

Superb performance that today and we made Iran look poor.

Southgate got the big calls right today I thought. Unpopular opinion but Stones and Maguire are great together and both offer a great threat on corners. Shaw and Trippier were superb too.

Bellingham was my MOTM and I really hope we can sign him in summer. Pep will turn him into a world class player as he has everything.

Great start for us today and hopefully a real boost for the team. I thought we would top the group and once Kane gets his shooting boots back, we should do well I think.

Don’t you think he’d prefer to join the champions instead? ;)

Foden looked a much better player than anyone else on the pitch when he came on. It will be a shame if he gets overlooked again at a major tournament
